Details
The Black Church Food Security Network is an association of congregations, fairs, food advocates, and community activists working together to create an alternative food system in the Baltimore metropolitan area. They prioritize bringing support to communities struggling with food insecurity and see food justice and sovereignty as indispensable components of the empowerment of Black communities. They also work to establish pipelines for fresh produce between Baltimore area congregations and Black farmers.
The performance will be streamed live via Youtube from Baltimore's Creative Alliance.

The Racial Justice Concert Series (RJCS), a collaboration among Johns Hopkins students, faculty, and staff, harnesses the power of music to bring awareness to issues of racism in Baltimore, and to support Baltimore organizations that focus on racial justice work. The RJCS features performances by Baltimore musicians and provides a platform for racial justice organizations to educate audiences about their efforts. The RJCS is cooperatively produced and funded by the Johns Hopkins Program in Arts, Humanities, & Health, Johns Hopkins Center for Music and Medicine, and Johns Hopkins International Arts + Mind Lab.
This Racial Justice Concert occurs as part of Johns Hopkins' H.O.P.E (Honoring Our Pandemic Experiences) programming. H.O.P.E. offers a variety of institution-supported programs for the JHM workforce designed to enable meaning making and healing from the extended pandemic experience. Like all Racial Justice Concert Series events, Dan and Claudia Zanes' livestream performance in support of the Black Church Food Security Network is freely available to all members of the Baltimore and broader public.
