Spotlight Your Public Health Work — ABS Wants to Feature You

Cherish Alex-Wele - Tuesday, May 12
 Events   Must Read

Public health at BSPH extends far beyond the classroom into communities, research, healthcare systems, policy, industry, and field sites around the world. The Anna Baetjer Society exists to honor the practice of public health, not just the study of it. As we close out this academic year, we are pleased to announce the launch of the “Public Health in Practice” Showcase, an initiative dedicated to highlighting the breadth of applied public health work being conducted across the Bloomberg School of Public Health community.

This showcase aims to document and celebrate the ways in which we translate knowledge into practice through campaigns, interventions, practicums, research initiatives, advocacy efforts, and community-engaged work.

Public Health Campaigns
Are you part of a student-led public health initiative? Did you launch a public health campaign in the current term and academic year overall? We are opening the invitation to submit a brief feature including a short description of your initiative, your methods, outcomes, and any visuals you'd like to share. All submissions will be published on the ABS website.

For our first intake, Take 60, a behavior change campaign from the Health Communication Programs course, presents today (May 12, 3:30–5:20 PM in W1214 Sheldon Hall / Zoom: 942 7493 5346, passcode: campaigns). Join in to learn about the development implementation, and evaluation process of Take 60. Flyer attached below.

Practicum Spotlights
Wrapping up your practicum? We would love to feature it. Submit a 5-7 slide presentation summarising your work. We are most interested in your practicum site, project, methods, takeaways and we look forward to posting it on our page for visibility!

All interested in being feautured are to include the following:
• A brief overview of the initiative, campaign, or practicum
• The public health issue or population addressed
• Methods, implementation strategies, or activities employed
• Outcomes, findings, impact, or lessons learned
• Relevant photos, graphics, or visuals

Both features are open to ABS members and the BSPH community at large. Submissions and questions can be sent both to our email (absphp@jh.edu) and our instagram page (@hopkins_abs).

We look forward to highlighting the meaningful work being carried out throughout our community.

Support. Celebrate. Inspire Change.
