Mission As a member of a student local section, you have the opportunity to gain insight, increase your knowledge, and establish connections with other IH / OEHS (occupational and environmental health and safety) students and seasoned professionals on a global-wide basis.Become a part of the AIHA family and lead the charge to take the IH/OEHS profession to the next level!• Become an active part of a global community that will sustain long after college. • Make connections with IH/OEHS experts world-wide with Catalyst, the NEW members-only online community.• Deepen your knowledge and advance your education through Local Sections (Chesapeake and Potomac) and AIHA National members only content and resources for education including AIHce Connect, IOHA; Future Leaders Institute; e-learning, road courses and training. • Undertake leadership development, serve in key leadership roles and become active via volunteer committees and opportunities, including macro, virtual and micro-volunteering.• Make a difference by taking an active role via the AIHA public policies, through advocacy and government relations or serving on the ACTIONS Committee.• Apply for tuition assistance via the AIH Foundation scholarship program or qualify for an AIHce student sponsorship which includes flight, accommodations and full registration.• Industry/Profession-wide recognition via awards ($1,000 annually), student poster presentations, and the "IAmIH" Leadership Challenge.• Learn what it takes to earn your CIH and secure a mentor who is matched based upon your criteria.• Student resources also include CareerAdvantage; IH professional Pathways Ôäó; and information on Career Levels and technical and operational committees to help you chart your course to IH/OEHS success.
