Volunteering Day With Net Impact

Student Advocacy Council Outreach Meetings
The Student Advocacy Council at Carey Business School are hosting two outreach meetings on Monday, December 9th with the goal of utilizing the lunch hour for each (Option 1 - 12:00pm EST/11:00am CST & Option 2 - 12:00pm MST/11:00am PST). The purpose of the outreach meetings are to share feedback about the Carey student experience with the members of the SAC.
We want to understand your experience and work towards making meaningful improvements. Please consider the following prompts.
1. What aspects of career development and recruitment would you like to see enhanced?
2. How can we improve communication between students and administration?
3. What additional academic resources or support services would help your learning?
4. What challenges have you faced in your program that need addressing?
5. How can we better facilitate networking between current students and alumni?
6. What improvements would you like to see in student life and campus community?
7. How can we make student organizations more effective and accessible?
8. What technology or facility upgrades would enhance your learning experience?

New Employee Compliance Obligations for Awareness and Socialization
JHU recently provided information about its updated policies on sexual and sex-based misconduct, and other forms of discrimination and harassment. These policies have an impact on student employees. All students were informed via email about these changes. However, you may also review the Hub article on this topic and the information provided on the Office of Institutional Equity website.

Hopkins Healthcare Business Conference - Save The Date!

Save the date! The Hopkins Healthcare Business Conference will take place on February 27-28, 2025 at Carey Business School. Last year's event had over 300 graduate student registrants, with prominent speakers from Google Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Arbor Biotechnologies, the Food and Drug Administration, Johns Hopkins Medicine, PTX Capital and more. Networking isn’t just about making connections; it’s about staying organized and intentional in your approach. To help you manage these relationships, we recommend using the Connection Tracking Spreadsheet. This Excel tool is designed to keep your network’s information, outreach activities, and follow-up notes in one place. Start today by adding the contacts you’ve already made, and track your interactions to build stronger, lasting connections.

2. Sending Thank You Notes and Following Up 
After meeting someone new, whether at an event, a coffee chat, or through a LinkedIn introduction, a timely thank you note (within 24 hours) makes a big impression. It shows professionalism and appreciation, and it also keeps you fresh in their minds. Writing a brief, thoughtful thank you email or message can be the foundation of a meaningful relationship. Relentless Advancement

New Shuttle Line at Carey
We are pleased to announce a new shuttle service to our East Baltimore campus. Students now have the option to take a dedicated Carey shuttle from the East Baltimore campus to Carey directly. East Baltimore is a hub of activity, including the School of Public Health, the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing, Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures, and more. Thanksgiving Building Closure
In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, Carey will be closed from 6:00 pm on Wednesday, November 27 – Sunday, December 1. Carey will reopen at 7:30 am on Monday, December 2, 2024.
