Oromo Protests

The Johns Hopkins Eritrean & Ethiopian Student Association is devastated with the tragic death of Oromo musician Haacaaluu Hundeessa.

Hundeessa left a legacy fighting against the injustices of his people through his inspirational music. It is our job as the diaspora to educate ourselves on both the history and on the current fight for justice. While the US is in the process of acknowledging their wrongdoings and addressing issues like police brutality and systemic racism, it is important to also be aware about unrest back home. Though access to information in Ethiopia is limited, it is our job to remain educated by actively learning and reading whilst having discussions with peers about current issues. Please take the time to read our infographic and resources below.
