FoMSF First Meeting Recap

Thanks to all those who attended our first meeting last week! We logged more than 20 volunteer hours through a Map-A-Thon that will help support MSF's activities in the Bamyan province of Afghanistan. We also discussed what Friends of MSF (FoMSF) is, our planned events for the semester, and got valuable feedback on what you'd like to see moving forward.

For those who weren't able to attend, the slides we went over are attached. We also encourage you to fill out the survey below. There, you can have a vote in everything from what food we'll have at our next event to the kinds of programming you'd like to see from FoMSF. We're also recruiting Student Leaders for our Executive Board, so please fill out the survey by this Friday (September 19th) to express interest!

We appreciate your patience as we work to coordinate our next event! We've gotten lots of interest in volunteering, skills training, and guest speakers, and our goal is to maximize our impact this semester. This past week we met with the Homewood Campus Chapter of FoMSF to coordinate a social and joint volunteer event. We also attended the SOURCE Student Involvement Fair to establish strategic partnerships with community-based organizations. This week, we're meeting with Roland Park Senior Center, MSF USA, and JHU School of Nursing faculty to cultivate several opportunities that align with your interests. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!

Since many of us are interested in putting our passion for global health into practice, we also wanted to highlight a cool opportunity right here at JHU SON. These include travel and volunteering in Peru, Nepal, and Guatemala. More information about the interest meeting tomorrow (September 17th) via Zoom at 12PM can be found to the right.

For those interested in becoming Student Leaders or want to learn more, MSF USA is hosting its Annual Leadership Summit tonight (September 16th) from 6-8:30PM ET via Zoom. This is required for current Executive Board members but is otherwise optional. Those who do attend will be given priority for current and future leadership opportunities. See how to register below.

Thanks again to those who we met in person last week! We look forward to seeing you again, and we look forward to welcoming many new faces next time!
