Mission Inter-Asian Council (IAC) is the umbrella organization for Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) clubs on campus and serves as a medium for APIDA groups at Hopkins to collaborate and to work together towards shared goals and causes. Past events have involved showcases/campaigns that promote discussion of APIDA identity and challenges facing the APIDA community, collaborations with other groups (such as the Black Student Union) to build solidarity both within the pan-Asian and greater Hopkins communities, performances featuring prominent pan-Asian entertainers, and pan-Asian cultural events.
Membership BenefitsMembers of IAC are expected to meet on a weekly basis (on Mondays) to discuss future events and collaboration with other organizations. Members in IAC also have complete freedom to express their interest in any APIDA related event/topic and are highly encouraged to start their own project/initiative with support from the rest of the board. There are ample opportunities for all members of IAC to gain leadership experience through event programming and outreach with other multicultural organizations on campus. Within IAC, members are encouraged to network through organized socials, coffee dates, and outings.Read more about what our IAC members have to say:"I love my IAC family! Everyone brings so much passion and dedication to our mission. Being a part of IAC makes me feel like I'm making a difference at Hopkins." -- Samantha Chun, Class of 2021"IAC has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've had at Hopkins. I've had the opportunity to learn so much by engaging with people from all types of backgrounds and experiences." -- Paul Lam, Class of 2022"As a member of IAC since my FRESHMAN year, I have really seen IAC grow through the work of all of its members. There is no organization on this campus that has shown more passion and initiatives to bring awareness to important issues within our community. I can say that I love everyone in IAC and I look forward to meeting new members every year!" -- Jun Yang, Class of 2021"IAC honestly makes up one of the best organizations that anyone could ask for, and it has definitely been my surrogate university family. They have taught me so much and have been so supportive in my college career, and I can't wait to welcome our new members!" -- Michael Lan, Class of 2021"Inter-Asian Council has, hands down, been the most impactful organization of my college experience. Growing up, I struggled most of my life with self-acceptance and embracement of my APIDA identity. However, because of IAC, I have been given a space to reflect on my own identity and meet so many motivated individuals who care about engaging within and beyond the APIDA community." - Alisha Chen, Class of 2021"IAC is a group of highly-committed individuals who aren't afraid to take on bold approaches or address difficult topics. At the same time, we're a fun bunch and treat each other like family"- Joyce Wang, Class of 2022"IAC is like my second family at Hopkins. Not only are members welcoming and friendly, but they are also so passionate about issues in the APIDA community." -- Edward Yin, Class of 2021"As an umbrella organization, IAC has been the link that connects me to the Southeast Asian community. Those connections definitely made my transition to college a lot smoother because I quickly found peers who share similar stories to mine." -- Khue Vo, Class of 2023"Being part of IAC has been really fun and informative because I've gotten to meet people from so many different backgrounds working together to educate others about both APIDA issues and culture" -- Isabel Veloso, 2023
