Mission The Johns Hopkins University Chapter of the Kidney Disease Screening and AwarenessProgram (KDSAP) strives to provide students with the opportunity to participate in communityoutreach events, promote awareness of kidney-related diseases, and increase interests innephrology careers among its members. JHU KDSAP also offers speaker series and programsto expose its members to medical and scientific professions while building relationships withmentors. Through this, the organization targets undergraduate students to gain leadership andmanagement skills as well as an early exposure to the lacking nephrology workforce. The goalof JHU KDSAP is to essentially improve the health and lifestyle of under-served communitieswhile developing important skills and fostering interests in medicine among its members.
Membership BenefitsOur members have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in screening patients for kidney disease, as well as shadowing opportunities with nephrologists at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Members are also able to attend Renal Grand Rounds to learn from physicians about how they handle cases, and they are able to attend speaker series that expose our members to medical and scientific professionals. Our members gain invaluable experience working with under-served communities and the opportunity to find mentors within the medical field.
