About Us

The L-CAP seeks to aid in the educational and professional development of Johns Hopkins School of Nursing students by offering educational and professional resources and skill-learning, mentorship, community involvement, and leadership opportunities throughout the academic year.

  • Our Mission

    The L-CAP seeks to aid in the educational and professional development of Johns Hopkins School of Nursing students by offering educational and professional resources and skill-learning, mentorship, community involvement, and leadership opportunities throughout the academic year. L-CAP serves as an advocacy platform for Johns Hopkins School of Nursing (JHSON) students with diverse needs, nurture their academic development, and promote allyship between students registered with Student Disability Services (SDS) and the broader JHSON community. Through collaboration, strength of community, and education L-CAP seeks:

    1. To promote and empower students with diverse learning and other needs through advocacy
    2. To build a community focused on supporting and uplifting the diverse needs of students registered with Johns Hopkins School of Nursing Student Disability Services
    3. To effectively communicate and promote understanding with school leadership, academic facilitators, and the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing community
    4. To foster a collaborative and learned environment, facilitating the academic growth and development of students registered with Student Disability Services
    5. To act as a liaison between students registered with Student Disability Services and the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing administration to develop proactive solutions
    6. To implement positive change to meet the diverse needs of Johns Hopkins School of Nursing students
  • Our History

    In 2022, the idea of forming a student-led organization that supported the needs of students registered with disability services at JHSON was born, with the focus on promoting collaboration, allyship, and fostering community with the School of Nursing community at large. In May 2023, Learning CapAble Personified (L-CAP) was incorporated and approved as a student organization. As an extension of L-CAP and housed under L-CAP, the Iota Alpha Chapter of Delta Alpha Pi International honor society was brought to in August 2023, L-CAP hosted its first induction ceremony for Delta Alpha Pi, where 38 students were inducted into the Iota Alpha Chapter of Delta Alpha Pi. Delta Alpha Pi is an academic honor society founded to recognize high-achieving students with disabilities in higher education.

    How can you become involved in L-CAP?
