2021 Lighting of the Quad Mug Design Contest Winners

Thank you to all those students who participated in the first Lighting of the Quads Mug Design Contest!  There are so many talented students at JHU, and we hope to make this an ongoing tradition that will celebrate the beginning of the holiday season during the Lighting of the Quads event for many years to come.  

There were so many beautiful entries that it was hard to choose just one. We settled on a Mug Contest winner; however, the designs were so good we wanted to incorporate them into the program overall.  As a result, there are six winners.  One winner's design is on the mugs, one winner's design is on the t-shirts. Both items will be available for students to take away at the LOTQ event on December 3rd.  Additionally, four designs are incorporated into the marketing of the event.  All winners will receive a small prize as an appreciation for their time and efforts. 

Now to the winners!

Mug Contest Winner - Tran Ngomai

Congratulations to Tran Ngomai for this excellent design!  The committee felt this captured the essence of Lighting of the Quads.  Ms. Ngomai should be incredibly proud of her design and it will be shared with thousands of your peers!

Runner Up (T-Shirt Design) - Joy Yeh

This design by Joy Yeh was the runner-up and will be featured on a t-shirt design. The shirts will be a giveaway from The HOP during LOTQ.  Congratulations Joy amazing job!

2nd Runner Up (Promotional Materials) - Elizabeth Cho

This great design was a committee favorite. So much so, it was chosen as the main design for the promotional material for LOTQ.  Please congratulate Elizabeth on a job well done!

Honorable Mention - Sachin Kammula

This design by Sachin Kammula caught the eye of many. So much so it will be featured on JHU's social media.  Click on the image to see a Giphy of the design!

Honorable Mention - Hanna Suh

This design also had a favorable response from the committee.  It was also selected to be featured on JHU's social media. 

Honorable Mention - Katherine Priu

Last but certainly not least is this design by Katherine Priu.  This simple design definitely was a fan favorite of the committee members and was chosen for social media use! Congratulations Katherine! 

Thanks again to all of the students that submitted designs. They were excellent.  We look forward to sharing your work with your peers.

We look forward to hosting you all for this JHU tradition event on Friday, December 3, 2021. There are over 20+ departments that will give away great items to celebrate your time here at Hopkins!  All giveaways are free!  There will be cupcakes, games, prizes and more so please take a few minutes before finals to fellowship with your fellow Blue Jays! 

For students that want a mug please make sure you register for the event below! Registration is not required for the event, but it is required for the mug.

Hundreds of students, faculty members, staff, alumni, and community members will come together on Dec. 3rd to commemorate the end of another fall semester and the beginning of the holiday season with Johns Hopkins’ annual Lighting of the Quads. The tradition, supported by the Hopkins Parents Fund, JHU Dining, and LEED. This year marks its 17th anniversary.
