Student Organizations   Involvement   Leadership   Word on the Street   Newsletter

Have you completed the 2021 Climate Survey?

Johns Hopkins recently launched an anonymous Climate Survey on Sexual Assault and Sexual Misconduct to obtain important data directly from students. All full-time students received a survey link via their Hopkins email on Monday, October 18, and in weekly reminder e-mails. Students have until Monday, November 22nd to complete the survey.

The survey will provide important data about:
1. The prevalence and risk factors of gender-based violence.
2. Student perceptions of problems and responses on our campuses.
3. Student awareness and perception of available resources.

To participate in the climate survey
1. Check your email
2. Take the survey
3. Make a difference!

As a small token of appreciation, the survey system will randomly choose 1 in 5 students who complete the survey to receive a $10 Amazon gift card after they submit.

Spotlight On: Dunbar Baldwin Hughes Theater Company

The Dunbar Baldwin Hughes Theater Company produces plays, skits, and monologues from the Black diaspora that aim to uplift the Johns Hopkins University student community. We aim to showcase the traditions and experiences of Black people, while supplementing the experience, training, and exposure of the company’s actors. The Company was founded on the principles of Paul Laurence Dunbar, Langston Hughes, and James Baldwin, who were all pioneers exploring life in the Black community through literary compositions that could be enjoyed and examined by all. The Dunbar Baldwin Hughes Theater Company’s aims are similar. The Company aims to stir up the universal sensations of love, faith, spirituality, family values, and ethic ties to the Black experience, which can be enjoyed by any audience.

Our fall performance will be “School Girls; or the African Mean Girls Play” written by Jocelyn Bioh. It explores issues of colorism, beauty standards, and what it means to be a teenage girl growing up with all of these pressures around you. We would love it if you joined us for our performances, November 12th at 7pm, November 13th at 7pm, and November 14th at 2pm. All performances will be held in Arellano Theater. We hope to see you there
