The Student Government Association (SGA) held its 18th general body meeting (GBM) of the 111th session on February 6th, 2024.
Cabinet Reports
Student Body President Ryan Chou highlighted a successful SGA Spring Retreat. President of the Senate Nasreen Naqvi addressed concerns of bias during senator nominations last week and apologized for any unintended bias. Dr. Charles Norman provided updates on Leadership Week and mentioned the upcoming Aspirations awards.

MSE Library Closure Updates
Elizabeth Long, Dean of the Library, is hosting MSE Library Project Update sessions on Wednesday, February 14th from 12pm-1pm in Scott-Bates Commons, Salon B, as well as Thursday, February 27th from 5-6pm on Zoom: 959 1522 3555. Lunch will be provided for the in-person session. The session will detail what the closure entails and how the university will accommodate the coming years.
New Senator Confirmations
President Nasreen Naqvi announced the confirmation of two new senators – Yashas Mallikarjun as FSL (Fraternity and Sorority Life) senator, and Daarian Rouhani as Civic Engagement and Service senator.
Second Reading
Junior Class President Resham Talwar presented the Academic Affair Survey Tabling Funding Bill, which will provide valuable feedback concerning student’s grievances. The bill passed unanimously.
President of the Senate Nasreen Naqvi proposed the Senator of the Week Funding Bill, which will award Blue Jay Plushies to Senators of the Week. The bill passed unanimously.
Treasurer Jenny Chen led the Student Initiative Funding Bill, which will gauge students’ opinions about the MSE shutdown. The bill passed unanimously.
