Mission SNMA MAPS is the Johns Hopkins UniversityÔÇÖs Minority Association for Pre-Medical Students (MAPS) chapter. MAPS is the undergraduate chapter of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA). SNMA MAPS seeks to provide community service, networking and other health-related opportunities for pre-health students underrepresented in medicine. The organization serves as a resource for information on pre-health advising and admission into professional schools. We are determined to increase exposure of minority pre-health students to health-related graduate institutions, professions and the medical field.
Membership BenefitsThe membership benefits of being part of SNMA MAPS include resources to further your academic and professional career. This includes research opportunities, research grants, summer opportunities, volunteering opportunities, and more. Continually, we work to fully fund our students to attend the Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC) and the Regional Medical Education Conference (RMEC). Our members get exposure to professionals in the health field through our various panels as well as gain networking skills. We try to host a variety of events to help our members experience what medical school will really be like, from anatomy lab tours to medical simulations. Lastly, we work closely with the medical students at Johns Hopkins Medicine to provide our members with the opportunity to gain mentorship, advice and knowledge from someone who has successfully been through the medical school process.
