At the Wilmer Eye Institute, ViSION Screenings in Our Neighborhoods (ViSION) provides free follow-up care to patients that have been identified in a prior community screening. Several of the Wilmer faculty have generously donated their time to ensure that any community member, regardless of financial means or insurance status, can obtain follow-up ophthalmological care free of charge. Supervised by an attending, med student volunteers independently operate stations to work up the patient. We also provide free glasses, along with tertiary care options, for community members who need them.


We are open to all eligible students without regard to sex, gender, marital status, pregnancy, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran status or other legally protected characteristic.
