About the Anna Baetjer Society for Public Health Practice
Empowering the Next Generation of Public Health Leaders
The Anna Baetjer Society for Public Health Practice (ABS) is a student-led organization at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health dedicated to bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world public health practice. Named after Anna Baetjer, a pioneering occupational health researcher, our society embodies her spirit of translating knowledge into meaningful action.
Our Mission
We believe that transformative public health work happens beyond the classroom. ABS brings together the diverse voices and experiences of Bloomberg School students—from epidemiologists to health policy advocates, from community health workers to global health practitioners—united by our shared commitment to improving population health.
Our Impact
Through three dynamic pillars—Education, Practice, and Public Affairs—we create opportunities for students to apply their skills, build professional networks, and make tangible differences in community health. Whether you're organizing a health fair, conducting policy research, or mentoring fellow students, ABS provides the platform to turn your public health passion into practice.
