Mission
One of our main missions is to assist the Hopkins community in meeting the recommendations of the Mental Health Task Force recommendations. As listed in sections 1.d and 3c, students need more access to information about the mental health services on campus. Therefore, we focus to increase campus awareness on the presence of APTT and highlight the impact of mental health on academic performance and overall well-being of students. We plan on accomplishing this through an extensive use of advertising campaigns and public relations events. We also hope to improve group cohesion through increased amounts of bonding events.

A Place to Talk (APTT) is the student-to-student peer listening group for the Hopkins community. APTT was founded in 1983 to provide support and excellence in peer listening to the Johns Hopkins community in an empathetic, reliable, and responsible manner. We seek to train members and non-members to be effective peer listeners in order to offer an environment on the JHU campus for anyone to discuss anything, from everyday frustrations to serious concerns. Our programming is centered around recruiting and training new members, staffing our rooms, maintaining group cohesion and communication, increasing the awareness of APTT services around campus, and training other student organizations in attentive listening skills. As of right now, our club's plan for functioning during the 2024-2025 school year is to maintain and operate two peer-listening rooms, one in Brody Learning Commons (BLC) 4010 and one in Wolman Hall.

Active Minds at Hopkins is dedicated to stopping suicide before it happens at The Johns Hopkins University through education, outreach, and the creation of a campus environment that supports those with mental, behavioral, and substance use concerns and encourages them to seek help. Chapter activities focus on prevention and early intervention while also acknowledging that work must be done during and after a mental, behavioral, or substance use crisis to foster a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Active Minds at Hopkins does not provide direct peer support or other therapeutic services; instead, the chapter focuses on ensuring that students feel empowered in discussing their mental and behavioral health and have the skills necessary to support themselves and others and advocate for institutional- and community-level change.

ABC Health is a student-led initiative that aims to advocate for the health needs of the underserved members of the surrounding Baltimore community. We assist clinics and aid groups in their mission to deliver accessible and good quality healthcare to underinsured and uninsured patients in the community.

Among other activities, we participate in monthly trips to the local farmer's market, in which members assemble pertinent health information, preventative care tips, and free resources like brochures and present them to the community. On top of that, our members volunteer at clinics that offer free or reduced services to patients who are uninsured or underinsured. Finally, we engage in community service that aims to aid those in need throughout the Baltimore community.

Members have to opportunity to venture outside the classroom and into the Baltimore community to do meaningful volunteer work with a group of students who are all passionate about community health. Our organization offers many opportunities for women to take on leadership roles. The chapter is run by an executive board, comprised of all undergraduate women who are in charge of organizing and creating content for Alpha Phi. These board members are able to attend an annual leadership conference, where they can meet and learn from other Alpha Phi sisters across the world! Once a week, members can expect to attend a meeting for updates on the chapterÔÇÖs upcoming and current events. They will also hear from guest speakers who vary from present chapter members to highly esteemed alumnae to other groups on campus. Kappa MuÔÇÖs impact in Baltimore is astounding; collectively, we perform over 5000 hours of community service per semester. Our service is spread out over various types of projects including helping out at soup kitchens, repairing homes, and teaching English to the Spanish-speaking community.



While service is an integral part of Alpha Phi Omega, we also encourage friendship among the chapter and leadership attained through internal and external activities. The American Mock World Health Organization chapter at Johns Hopkins University leads annual simulation conferences where delegates are invited to assume the roles of global leaders in addressing today's most pertinent global health issues. We provide opportunities for students to develop leadership abilities, sharpen public speaking skills, understand real-world policy applications through the lens of their respective roles. The chapter also recruits for and attends the National AMWHO conference as a delegation.

AMWHO is modeled after the Ontario and Montreal World Health Organization conferences set in Canada, and the primary focus of all three is to raise student awareness of pertinent health issues facing the world today, as well as to promote understanding of the many roles students can engage in through global health policy. The conference hopes to establish an environment similar to that of the World Health Organization's Assembly, and educate future global health leaders in the proceedings of international health entities. Furthermore, AMWHO aims to nurture an interest in global health and health policy that is often neglected in a standard health education curriculum. Students will receive the opportunity to sharpen their diplomacy skills, as well as increase their ability to engage in problem solving, conflict resolution, and communication skills.

The American Red Cross JHU chapter is an active volunteer organization that works under the broader American Red Cross Central Maryland Chapter and the Center for Social Concern at the Johns Hopkins University. We aim to extend the services of the American Red Cross on our campus and in the local community by providing regular blood drives, disaster action services, CPR and First AID classes, and domestic and international relief awareness. The student chapter of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) at Johns Hopkins is dedicated to furthering the knowledge and advancement of computers and information technology through the free exchange of ideas and information.

ACM hosts exciting events that prepare members for the internship season and allow them to network with technical/campus recruiters and alumni. Members can also gain competitive programming experience through our ACM-ICPC team and join interest groups in areas such as web development and robotics.

While we host technical events that support interest in technology and computer science, you can also take part in social events that are hosted throughout the year to connect with other ACM members and even faculty in the CS department. We also have food and drinks at these events :)

Members get J-Card access to the ACM Lounge in Malone Hall so you can come in at any time, 24/7. The lounge is a great place to just relax with friends or even (gasp!) work. The Lounge features an open space where you can snack on food or use our gaming setup (including a Nintendo Switch, GameCube, PlayStation) to create your own community within ACM.

The AstroJays Rocketry Team is a multidisciplinary, student-led team that builds advanced rocket systems with the goal of increasing the number of aerospace engineering opportunities on the Homewood campus.

The AstroJays are composed of 4 subsystems: Avionics, Propulsion, Structures, and Flight Operations, each of which focus on one aspect of our rockets.

-- Avionics gathers data from a variety of sensors placed within the rocket and on the propulsion system, using its data to determine its flight path, and sending diagnostics back to a ground station.
--Propulsion develops and implements commercial and custom propulsion systems. Currently developing a hybrid rocket motor.
--Structures ensures that the rocket is its lightest, while staying aerodynamic and retaining its structural integrity throughout the entire flight (externally and internally).
--Flight Ops is responsible for management of the high-power certification flight program as well as safe and consistent rocket recovery through the deployment of parachutes.

Working together as a team, these subsystems develop advanced rocket systems. Our team of more than 30 students are all hard at work to make each launch count.

Art therapy is a growing field which involves creative outlets for personal and emotional support. It's an evidence-based therapy practice that focuses on improving well-being and emotional health through expressive arts projects. There have been countless studies proving the benefits of expressive arts and art therapy in many populations and we're excited to share art activities with a wide range of people in the Baltimore community. With the unique opportunity of partnering with the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Kennedy Krieger Institute, Ronald McDonald House, Keswick Assisted Living Center, Gilchrist Center Baltimore, Huntington's Disease Center, Best Buddies, and Karina Cafe, Believe in Art focuses on serving the community through art therapy to alleviate levels of pain and anxiety and provide emotional care. Members are closely involved with patients and family members by facilitating arts and crafts projects. Service trips occur weekly, biweekly, or monthly depending on the community partner. The service opportunities expose our volunteers to various levels of patient contact, as well as provide experience in both the medical and artistic fields. Another facet of the club works with spreading awareness of art therapy within the Hopkins community through arts events, club collaborations, and on-campus events. Everyone can benefit from art therapy, whether it's patients at the Hospital, people with disabilities, our volunteers, or undergraduates on campus.

The Catholic Community at Hopkins is a vibrant community of faith that hosts several weekly and monthly events. Weekend and daily Masses are held at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church and University Parish at 2801 N. Charles St., across the street from the south side of campus. Our main gathering space is the student Newman Center adjacent to the church, a welcoming space for students filled with comfortable couches, a flat-screen TV, a pool table, and a fully stocked kitchen, courtesy of our chaplains. The center promotes rigorous, methodical, and unflinching discussion about the TransAtlantic Slave Trade and its fundamental role in making modern society. Charm City Science League (CCSL) empowers Baltimore middle and high school students to pursue STEM education beyond lessons taught in the classroom. We engage students in active learning and scientific inquiry through Science Olympiad, a national STEM competition for grades 5-12. Using a unique combination of intensive one-on-one mentoring, academic competition participation, resource support, and greater community involvement, we inspire young students to explore their passions in science and support their academic growth.

As one of the largest student organizations within the Center for Social Concern (over 100 members!), Charm City Science League offers a whole host of opportunities to help serve our network of 20+ Baltimore City Schools. We primarily send groups of ~4 mentors to each of our schools in weekly sessions in both the fall and spring semesters, where mentors help the school's Science Olympiad teams prepare for the Regionals and States competitions in March. Additionally, members help put together kits, write online curriculum, volunteer at workshops throughout the year, and run Johns Hopkins very own Science Olympiad Invitational. Those who want to get even more involved can become head mentors, or join our Executive Board.

The Graduate Student Liaison Committee (GSLC) is a group of volunteer graduate students (Masters and PhD) that are responsible for planning graduate student events for the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department at Johns Hopkins University. The goals of the GSLC are to: (1) coordinate the needs of graduate students with faculty and staff when needed, (2) foster a sense of community amongst the graduate students within the ChemBE department by planning and executing social events that promote inclusion and fun on and off campus amongst graduate students and faculty/staff, and (3) represent ChemBE to serve and enhance the Johns Hopkins and surrounding Baltimore community through community service and professional development. We aim to have each lab in the department represented in the GSLC. We also aim to facilitate a collaborative and supportive graduate student body to improve the graduate student experience here at Johns Hopkins.

CSCF@JH is a fellowship of students and scholars who follow Jesus as the Savior and Lord. CSCF@JH is intended to help Chinese-speaking students and scholars overcome the barrier of different cultures and languages and provide with them an opportunity to know Jesus Christ, to know His word (i.e., Holy Bible), and to spread His gospel. By promoting the use of emerging technologies in students' scholarly and creative works, the Creative Media Center prepares life-long learners to confidently master new technologies and to disseminate works that effectively communicate their ideas.

The CMC is a multimedia lab space as well as an equipment, printing and knowledge resource for students interested in exploring creative uses of emerging media and technology to communicate their ideas.

In addition to our highly-skilled professional staff, the CMC is staffed by a cadre of well-trained student employees who work with members at every level of their projects. The lab itself consists of 18 high-end dual-boot workstations with a full complement of commercial and professional-grade software for completing tasks related to audio, video, photography, graphics, animation, 3-D modeling and design, web-based and multimedia projects.

We also provide specialized workspaces and equipment for professional audio recording and editing/mastering, high-demand gaming, simulation and modeling, and maker/hacker activities. We provide resale materials necessary for archival-grade photography and printing, as well as large-format and 3-D printing.

Delta Xi Phi is a national sorority that has had a charter at Johns Hopkins since 2006. As an organization, we are dedicated to sisterhood, friendship, advancement of women through higher education, increasing multicultural awareness, and community service.

Johns Hopkins University is a campus filled with students and faculty with a great diversity of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Students maintain a sense of acceptance, but tend to form segregated friendships. The founders recognized a need for an opportunity for women to unite and celebrate their diversity. 

Therefore, on June 7, 2003, the Alpha Line "Bixia" was initiated. Vicki R. Nelson, Chinyere Ogbonna, and Monica E. Soderlund became the founders of the Lambda Associate Chapter of Delta Xi Phi Multicultural Sorority, Incorporated at 10:10pm June 7, 2003.
