Mission
One of our main missions is to assist the Hopkins community in meeting the recommendations of the Mental Health Task Force recommendations. As listed in sections 1.d and 3c, students need more access to information about the mental health services on campus. Therefore, we focus to increase campus awareness on the presence of APTT and highlight the impact of mental health on academic performance and overall well-being of students. We plan on accomplishing this through an extensive use of advertising campaigns and public relations events. We also hope to improve group cohesion through increased amounts of bonding events.

A Place to Talk (APTT) is the student-to-student peer listening group for the Hopkins community. APTT was founded in 1983 to provide support and excellence in peer listening to the Johns Hopkins community in an empathetic, reliable, and responsible manner. We seek to train members and non-members to be effective peer listeners in order to offer an environment on the JHU campus for anyone to discuss anything; from everyday frustrations to serious concerns. Our programming is centered around recruiting and training new members, staffing our rooms, maintaining group cohesion and communication, increasing the awareness of APTT services around campus, and training other student organizations in attentive listening skills. As of right now, our club’s plan for functioning during the Fall 2021 semester is to maintain and operate two peer-listening rooms, one in Brody Learning Commons (BLC) 4010 and one in AMR I.

Our mission as a student group is to provide health advocacy to the surrounding Baltimore community and offer assistance to Baltimore clinics and nonprofits in achieving their respective goals of delivering accessible healthcare, promoting healthy living, and alleviating human suffering.

Among other activities, we participate in monthly trips to the local farmer’s market, in which members assemble pertinent health information, preventative care tips, and free resources like brochures and present them to the community. On top of that, our members volunteer at clinics that offer free or reduced services to patients who are uninsured or underinsured. Finally, we engage in community service that aims to aid those in need throughout the Baltimore community.

Members have to opportunity to venture outside the classroom and into the Baltimore community to do meaningful volunteer work with a group of students who are all passionate about community health. Members receive information about clinical/shadowing experiences near Hopkins and also have access to leadership opportunities within the club.

Alpha Epsilon Delta is the world's largest health pre-professional honor society with more than 144 thousand members and 186 chapters. Our organization offers many opportunities for women to take on leadership roles. The chapter is run by an executive board, comprised of all undergraduate women who are in charge of organizing and creating content for Alpha Phi. Once a week, members can expect to attend a meeting for updates on the chapter’s upcoming and current events. The Alpha Phi Omega, Kappa Mu Chapter has been striving for excellent service since its 1998 rechartering at Johns Hopkins University. Kappa Mu’s impact in Baltimore is astounding; collectively, we perform over 5000 hours of community service per semester. Our service is spread out over various types of projects including helping out at soup kitchens, repairing homes, and teaching English to the Spanish-speaking community.



While service is an integral part of Alpha Phi Omega, we also encourage friendship among the chapter and leadership attained through internal and external activities. The American Mock World Health Organization chapter at Johns Hopkins University leads annual simulation conferences where delegates are invited to assume the roles of global leaders in addressing today’s most pertinent global health issues. We provide opportunities for students to develop leadership abilities, sharpen public speaking skills, understand real-world policy applications through the lens of their respective roles. The chapter also recruits for and attends the National AMWHO conference as a delegation.

AMWHO is modeled after the Ontario and Montreal World Health Organization conferences set in Canada, and the primary focus of all three is to raise student awareness of pertinent health issues facing the world today, as well as to promote understanding of the many roles students can engage in through global health policy. The conference hopes to establish an environment similar to that of the World Health Organization’s Assembly, and educate future global health leaders in the proceedings of international health entities. Furthermore, AMWHO aims to nurture an interest in global health and health policy that is often neglected in a standard health education curriculum. Students will receive the opportunity to sharpen their diplomacy skills, as well as increase their ability to engage in problem solving, conflict resolution, and communication skills.

The American Red Cross JHU chapter is an active volunteer organization that works under the broader American Red Cross Central Maryland Chapter and the Center for Social Concern at the Johns Hopkins University. Johns Hopkins University’s chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is dedicated to furthering the knowledge and advancement of computers and information technology through the free exchange of ideas and information.

Membership Benefits
ACM hosts exciting events that prepare members for the internship season and allow them to network with technical/campus recruiters and alumni. Members can also gain competitive programming experience through our ACM-ICPC team and join interest groups in areas such as web development and robotics.

While we host technical events that aim to increase members’ interest in technology and computer science, you can also take part in multiple social events that are hosted throughout the year to connect with other ACM members and even faculty in the CS department. We also have food and drinks at these events :)

Members get J-Card access to the ACM Lounge in Malone Hall so you can come in at any time, 24/7. The lounge is a great place to just relax with friends or even (gasp!) work. The Lounge features an open space where you can snack on food or use our gaming setup (including a Nintendo Switch, GameCube, PlayStation) to create your own community within ACM.

The AstroJays Rocketry Team is a multidisciplinary, student-led team that builds advanced rocket systems with the goal of increasing the number of aerospace engineering opportunities on the Homewood campus.

The AstroJays are composed of 4 subsystems: Avionics, Propulsion, Structures, and Flight Operations, each of which focus on one aspect of our rockets.

-- Avionics gathers data from a variety of sensors placed within the rocket and on the propulsion system, using its data to determine its flight path, and sending diagnostics back to a ground station.
--Propulsion develops and implements commercial and custom propulsion systems. Currently developing a hybrid rocket motor.
--Structures ensures that the rocket is its lightest, while staying aerodynamic and retaining its structural integrity throughout the entire flight (externally and internally).
--Flight Ops is responsible for management of the high-power certification flight program as well as safe and consistent rocket recovery through the deployment of parachutes.

Working together as a team, these subsystems develop advanced rocket systems. Our team of more than 30 students are all hard at work to make each launch count.

Art therapy is a growing field which involves creative outlets for personal and emotional support. It’s an evidence-based therapy practice that focuses on improving well-being and emotional health through expressive arts projects. There have been countless studies proving the benefits of expressive arts and art therapy in many populations and we’re excited to share art activities with a wide range of people in the Baltimore community. With the unique opportunity of partnering with the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Kennedy Krieger Institute, Believe in Tomorrow Children's House, Ronald McDonald House, Keswick Assisted Living Center, Gilchrist Center Baltimore, and Karina Cafe, Believe in Art focuses on serving the community through art therapy to alleviate levels of pain and anxiety and provide emotional care. Members are closely involved with patients and family members by facilitating arts and crafts projects. Service trips occur weekly, biweekly, or monthly depending on the community partner. The service opportunities expose our volunteers to various levels of patient contact, as well as provide experience in both the medical and artistic fields. Another facet of the club works with spreading awareness of art therapy within the Hopkins community through arts events, club collaborations, and on-campus events. Everyone can benefit from art therapy, whether it's patients at the Hospital, people with disabilities, our volunteers, or undergraduates on campus.

In fact, we encourage people who have never picked up a hammer in their life to join and learn this beautiful skill. Once you learn what you are capable of creating with your own two hands, you will have an incredible sense of pride and satisfaction and a boost in confidence like nothing else. Aside from creating, it teaches the practical properties of metals, and students who participate will gain fresh insights on materials they learned about in textbooks and class. The Blacksmithing Club will significantly impact students, for there are no outlets for hands-on activity on the JHU Homewood campus like this.
We will establish a supportive environment that will nurture and channel people’s curiosity with safety in mind. Blacksmithing produces creations with an artistic flair not found anywhere in our materialistic, mass-produced society.
No previous experience will be required to join the club. If one is willing to swing a hammer and get their hands dirty, they will fit right in. Even if one is not directly interested in getting hands-on, there will still be plenty of opportunities to get involved and spectate the fun and interesting craft.

Weekend and daily Masses are held at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church and University Parish at 2801 N. Charles St., across the street from the south side of campus. Our main gathering space is the student Newman Center adjacent to the church, a welcoming space for students filled with comfortable couches, a flat screen TV, a pool table, and a fully stocked kitchen, courtesy of our chaplains. The Newman Center is always open to students for studying or relaxing.

Charm City Science League (CCSL) empowers Baltimore middle and high school students to pursue STEM education beyond lessons taught in the classroom. We engage students in active learning and scientific inquiry through Science Olympiad, a national STEM competition for grades 5-12. Using a unique combination of intensive one-on-one mentoring, academic competition participation, resource support, and greater community involvement, we inspire young students to explore their passions in science and support their academic growth.

As one of the largest student organizations within the Center for Social Concern (over 100 members!), Charm City Science League offers a whole host of opportunities to help serve our network of 20+ Baltimore City Schools. We primarily send groups of ~4 mentors to each of our schools in weekly sessions in both the fall and spring semesters, where mentors help the school’s Science Olympiad teams prepare for the Regionals and States competitions in March. Delta Phi seeks to establish and promote strong and successful chapters built upon our core principles of:

Brotherhood: Our goal for each chapter is to create an organization built upon a standard of excellence for brotherhood. We recognize the value of a diverse membership, the importance of mutual respect, and the virtue of life-long bonds of brotherhood. We are highly selective in accepting colonization requests. We believe very strongly in accepting only those men who seek to build lasting friendships based in principle, maintained with integrity, and celebrated over generations.

Literature: Since its founding over 180 years ago, members of Delta Phi have placed a strong emphasis on intellectual vigor and personal leadership. As a brotherhood we seek men of talent who will benefit from joining our organization. Our brotherhood is dedicated to encouraging and enabling the diverse talents of each member while undergraduates and throughout their lives and careers.

Morality: Character is fundamental in establishing and sustaining the bonds of brotherhood. As brothers, we share in each other's successes, and support each other in struggles. Character and morality are fundamental to leadership in our personal lives, in our brotherhood, and in our community. We strive to create chapters and members marked by their integrity, ability, and trustworthiness.

As a brotherhood our intent is to strengthen, support, and celebrate the members of Delta Phi. In keeping with 180 year tradition, our philosophy, and our no-hazing policy, we strive to maintain a positive environment for all our members. We do not support the intentional harm of any member, and strive to create an atmosphere that does not encourage or condone substance abuse of any kind.

For almost two centuries the members of Delta Phi included leaders of exceptional character and achievement. We consider it a privilege to share in our brotherhood, and are proud to be ‘Semper Ubique'.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is an organization of college educated women committed to the constructive development of its members and to public service with a primary focus on the Black community.
The Mu Psi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc was found in 1976 on the campus of Johns Hopkins University. We are a collegiate chapter consisting of only undergraduate students bringing the mission of DST to the Hopkins campus and surrounding community.
