 Events

December 11, 2023

Season's Greetings [FIRST_NAME],

With the end of the year just around the corner, we wish you the best as you gear up for finals. It's been a year filled with hard work, determination, and countless achievements and we are so glad we got to share it with all of you. May the holiday season be filled with joy and relaxation!

We will see you again next year!

P.S. During the week of the 25th, students, faculty, staff, or visitors will not be allowed on campus. More details are shared by the Residents Life on your email.

Event organizers need a break, too.
🎄☃️✨Happy holidays! ✨☃️🎄

For the latest information on Peabody performances, be sure to read the Peabody Events newsletter or visit peabody.jhu.edu/events.

The Promised End

IN Series's current production, The Promised End is part of the Shakespeare Everywhere Festival in Washington DC, and will also be performed at the Baltimore Theater Project on December 15th, 16th & 17th.

This original piece weaves together the entirety of Giuseppe Verdi’s REQUIEM, performed by eight exceptional vocal artists in a version that allows audiences to hear this huge music as if for the first time, and a one-woman monodrama depicting the composer Verdi, the play “King Lear,” and aged King Lear himself, all embodied by Nanna Ingvarsson.

We would like to offer the students of Peabody $20 tickets when they order using the code END20, with the wish to share this successful creation with young musician colleagues and faculty.

Practice Rooms

With finals taking place next week, practice rooms will be open 24 hours starting Monday, December 4 and ending on Friday, December 15. During this period, practice room reservations will continue to be available from 8:00 am – 11:00 pm as usual, with additional hours available on a walk-in basis only. All practice room policies remain in effect during this time and can be found on the Nest.

During the winter break, the campus will be closed to all (including students, faculty, and staff) from December 25, 2023 through January 1, 2024.

From Tuesday, January 2 through Friday, January 19, practice rooms are available to reserve in ArtsVision and classrooms are available for reservations by request from 9 am until 10 pm. Studios also are available to use from 9:00 am – 10:00 pm. Starting Saturday, January 20, the normal schedule will resume.

Share Your Experience: Experiential Learning Survey

Reminder: We are still seeking participants for a research study on experiential learning participation! Feedback is welcome from ALL students - you don't need to be involved with any programs to participate.

Participate by taking an anonymous survey to share your perspective on experiential learning programs at Peabody! It should take no more than 10-15 minutes. Your input will inform potential future updates and improvements to Peabody programs.

Christina Manceor is conducting this study as part of her work with Peabody LAUNCHPad, and some aspects will contribute to my doctoral research. This research is approved by the JHU HIRB (protocol no. HIRB00018147). All participants must be current Peabody students who are over 18 years of age. Please reach out to cmanceor@jhu.edu with any questions.

Hopkins Food Pantry at East Baltimore

Call for International Trans Day of Visibility Submissions

From the JHU Office of Diversity and Inclusion:
In preparation for the International Trans Day of Visibility, Johns Hopkins University is seeking evocative submissions. This year’s theme—Trans Utopia— calls on us to imagine a liberatory future for trans and gender-expansive people wherein trans+ identities are affirmed and celebrated. Submissions will be available on a public JHU website connected to the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and will be displayed during the Trans Day of Visibility at the Expanding Genders event on March 29, 2024.

We are looking for submissions that articulate trans & gender-expansive futures, trans liberation, and trans solidarity including, but not limited to: poetry, prose, visual art, collages, music, photography, etc. Submissions can be from individuals or groups and may be anonymous or under a pseudonym.

Please Send your works or any questions to trans-versity@jh.edu by January 15!
