Thank you to those who joined our November 13th meeting! We had a great session, and I wanted to get this message out to those who didn't have a chance to join! First, about choosing a communication platform for StoryLab--we narrowed it down to a choice between Slack, GroupMe, Microsoft Teams, and WhatsApp. There will be a poll attached to this email so we can get a sense of what everyone prefers… assuming it actually works, haha.
A quick reminder that our hybrid event, 'Using Storytelling to Build Your Career,' is planned for December 5th from 6:00–7:30 PM. We’re just waiting on final approval, and we’ll share the registration link as soon as it goes live!
We also had an exciting update about The Moth. We’re in conversation with them about hosting a workshop for us in the Spring semester, aiming for the week of February 16th. More details to come soon!
Lastly, we’re working on setting up our social media and the StoryLab website so we can start sharing student stories. The website builder is being a little tricky at the moment, but we’re making progress, and we’ll be showcasing some of your stories soon!
With that, I’d love to spotlight Chloe’s story, ‘Better’, which she shared during our meeting! Chloe recently completed a 6-week workshop through The Moth (https://themoth.org/college) , which wrapped up with a StorySlam. She was kind enough to let me put her on the spot during the meeting, and she happily shared her story with all of us.
I’ve included the video below. If you can’t see the image or thumbnail in the email, be sure to hit “Trust Sender” so it displays properly!

Lastly, we talked about starting a small writing accountability group for anyone who wants support staying on track with their storytelling goals. We’re hoping this will run even more smoothly once our communication platform is set up, but for now we’ll plan on doing weekly check-ins through email.
We also want to give a big welcome to all our new members who’ve joined over the past week. We’re so glad to have you here, and we hope you find a home in this community. If you know any classmates in the AAP program who might enjoy storytelling or benefit from what we’re building, feel free to invite them!
We won’t have another general body meeting until January, but we hope to see you at our December event. Keep an eye out for upcoming emails and exciting StoryLab updates.
And if we don’t see you in December, we hope you have a wonderful and restful holiday break.
Until the next plot twist,
StoryLab Executive Team
