EXCITING FUNDING NEWS FOR SEMESTER & ACADEMIC YEAR STUDY

JHU believes in the value of studying abroad and makes it financially possible for our students. If you receive financial aid, you can use it toward the cost of semester and year-long programs.

Starting this Fall 2024, for study abroad programs that cost more than your Hopkins tuition, Student Financial Support will increase your financial aid to match the cost of the program. Your EFC will remain the same.

DID YOU KNOW?

That there are students who study abroad at Hopkins for a semester or year? Students completed their orientation 2 weeks ago and you may see them in your classes this fall. Make sure to welcome them to Hopkins!

MEET OUR GLOBAL AMBASSADORS

The GEO Global Ambassadors Program (GEO GAP) was created to bridge the gap between our office and students. Our amazing group of Study Abroad alumni will share their experiences with peers and spread the word about study abroad opportunities at Hopkins. Do say hi when you see them around campus!

Hello! My name is Maryam Amosu, a neuroscience major and writing seminars minor from Southern Maryland. I studied abroad in Oxford England at St. Anne's College of the University of Oxford in Fall 2023. There I explored several of England's oldest libraries and strengthened my love for research and old architecture. I loved being able to discover not only the campus but more about myself and how I adapt to a new environment with different cultures, academic curricula, and traditions. I am delighted to aid you all in finding a program that gives you the opportunity to explore the beauties of another country and learn more about yourself and others along the way.

Hi! My name is Esperanca Woei, I’m a rising senior majoring in International Studies and minoring in Marketing and Communications. I grew up in Suriname for 8 years, moved to South Florida and have lived there ever since. In summer 2023, I studied abroad in Tainan, Taiwan through the US State Department Critical Language Scholarship; and after that went straight to Bologna, Italy for a year at The Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. Studying abroad strengthened my knowledge and love for international affairs, especially through public diplomacy. Exchanging and learning about foreign culture not only bridges me with people of different nations together, but it also develops an appreciation and respect for other societies abroad.

My name is Maneeza Khan, and I'm a sophomore majoring in Public Health on the pre-med track! I'm originally from Kolkata, India but I've lived in over 5 countries including the United States and Saudi Arabia. I have done 3 study abroad programs: Hopkins Summer Cape Town, Hopkins Intersession Brazil, and CIEE Women in STEM in Costa Rica. Study Abroad has made me more open-minded, independent, and emotionally mature by exploring new cultures, forming beautiful bonds with friends and families abroad, and overcoming challenges such as language and cultural barriers. As a Global Ambassador, I am excited to share my international experiences with the Hopkins community and inspire my peers to embark on a life-changing experience abroad. More importantly, I am excited to share the multitude of ways through which the Global Education Office can support you throughout your study abroad experience! :)

Hi, my name is Jocelyn Freed and I am a senior majoring in Materials Science and Engineering with a minor in Visual Arts. I am originally from Philadelphia, PA and I studied abroad in Sydney, Australia for the Spring semester of 2024. I knew that studying abroad during a rigorous engineering program wouldn’t be easy, especially since no one in my major had spent a semester abroad in the past seven years. However, I found a university abroad that offered courses that enabled me to fulfill my major and minor requirements. While studying abroad, I took courses in marine biology, process metallurgy, ceramic processing, and textiles. I am very passionate about encouraging engineering students to expand their worldview and grow personally, professionally, and academically by studying abroad. I hope to guide my peers towards all the opportunities that are available through the Global Education Office.

Student Testimonial

Ana Todesco - Hopkins Madrid Program

"I absolutely loved my time studying abroad in Madrid. The city had so much to offer from the cool paintings at the Reina Sofia Museum to the beautiful gardens in Retiro Park. Everyone I met on this trip was lovely and the food was so delicious (especially the paella and flan). Also, I learned a lot through taking classes and conducting research at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICAI). To anyone who is thinking about going abroad, I highly recommend this program!"

GEO JET: CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Have you studied abroad and want toshare your experience with others? Share your journey with your peers as a JET (Jays Encouraging Travel) volunteer with GEO. JET students will volunteer at events and share their stories with students who are interested in study abroad.
