Hello RSO Leaders!

Welcome to a new academic year and congrats on making it through the first two weeks of the faall semester!  So much has happened aalready and we're excited here in SLI for much more!

The Word on the Street Newsletter is the Student Leadership and Involvement (SLI) bi-weekly newsletter that will share information about student organinzations, fraternities and sorororities, Life Design, RSO spotlights, and upcoming events.  We hope to highlight student organizations throughout the semester and really tell your stories to the larger campus community.  If you have feedback or information that you would like featured, please reach out to SLI at studentorgs@jhu.edu.

It has been a little over a week since our first ever, virtual Student Involvmeent Fair, where over 300 student organizations hosted booths and nearly 3,000 people attended over the three days.  There were nearly 27,000 booth visits, over 14,500 chat messages, and over 2,000 conference participants! What an exciting event for everyone all around.  Thank you to those of you who have already shared feedback and if you would like to leave your comments and impressions, please feel free to complete this feedback form

As a reminder, you are able to see everyone who clicked the “I’m Interested” button for your group by going to your Members list > Contacts > then filtering by the Member Tag with "Student Involvement Fair 2020".  You can then follow up with more information about joining the group and your upcoming planned meetings and events.

We're excited to get things moving this fall!  Keep up the great energy and creativity and we'll see you in the next couple of weeks!

Fraternity and Sorority Life

Chapter Features & Highlights

Prior to the start of the year, the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life encouraged chapters to create Bitmoji chapter rooms. By creating Bitmoji chapter rooms, chapters are able to allow prospective students, current students, parents, and alumni to get to know them better. Today, we are featuring five Bitmoji chapter rooms. Feel free to browse through them to learn more about these dynamic organizations.

Life Design Lab

Register for JHU Future Fest

Every year, the Life Design Lab holds a fall career fair where you can gather information, test out your interests, network with employers, and learn more about specific industries. This year's reimagined fair is taking the form of a "Coachella-like" festival called Future Fest where you'll be able to achieve the same outcomes through the Trade Show Floor, specific networking events, and main stage conversations and performances (pssst...I recommend signing up for the Factuality experience and btw, Chef Jose Andres will close out the festival on Thursday night!!!).

Register here on Handshake to join us on September 28 - October 1. You can also find more information at jhufuturefest.com. Please share this information and opportunity with your student organization members.
