Pitch Deck: Level Up Your Deck

Pitch Perfect: Level Up Your Deck is a hands-on workshop for early-stage founders who already have a pitch deck and want to make it stronger. Attendees will hear from experienced founders about what it takes to perfect a pitch deck, including pitching dos and don’ts, how to craft a compelling narrative, and how to tailor a pitch to different investor groups. The session also covers timing and how to adjust a pitch to fit different lengths, from a quick elevator version to a full presentation. In the hands-on portion, participants will work directly on improving their own decks with feedback from later-stage advisors.

Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC) Regional Qualifier
Where students become VCs for a day.

VCIC is the world’s largest venture capital competition. Student teams size up real startups, pitch an investment to real VC judges, and founders get a crash course in raising money.  Real startups pitch to student teams. Each team does the due diligence, picks the deal, writes the term sheet and defends its investment to a panel of real venture capitalists.

This year the Regional Qualifier will be In Person at the Harbor East Campus.  Six teams will compete for the winning spot that will take the team to Regionals in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday, January 30, 2027.  The application deadline is Sunday, November 15th at 5:00 pm ET.  Teams will be notified by Friday, November 20th.  A mandatory training will be offered on Tuesday, November 24 at 11:45-1:00 pm.

Teams must have 5-6 Carey Business School students.  To help you find teammates, please complete the VCIC Team Finder Form or post your interest in the Linkedin Case Competition Group.  Only apply once you have your team built.

How to book a Group Study Room on campus

This is just a reminder that Group Study Rooms can get filled up during busy times and the best way to ensure you have a space is to reserve one. Students can reserve rooms on 25live or via the QR code next to the doors. Please see this ‘how-to’ video for tips on how to reserve the room. If a room is not being used, students can use it but must vacate for a student with a reservation. For any questions about rooms, please visit the Security Desk or the website.

picPitch Competition: Winning Strategies to Integrate AI into Gender and Health
Join the Gender Equity Unit on November 19, 2026, from 9 AM–1 PM at the Mount Washington Campus as students, faculty, staff, and trainees come together to explore practical ways AI can advance gender equity in public health data systems.

Competitors must submit a pitch slide deck by November 2, 2026 and follow the slide deck instructions provided here. The Gender Equity Unit will review all submissions by November 9, at which point selected teams will be notified. Selected teams must then submit their final presentations by November 16.

We encourage Carey students who are passionate about AI, healthcare, public health, data science, gender equity, or innovation to participate and share their ideas.

The event includes a competition for teams and individuals to pitch ideas for how AI can increase the representation and inclusion of women and other historically excluded populations in health research.  Anyone with a JHU affiliation is eligible to participate in the pitch competition—students, faculty, staff, and trainees– and a panel of judges with expertise in AI, medicine, public health, and gender will evaluate the pitches. The winner will receive $250, publicity via Gender Equity Unit and Data Science and AI Institute media channels, and, of course, bragging rights.

Good luck and click here for more details or contact Senior Communications Associate Patrick Slavin at pslavin@jhu.edu.
