Details

Transcendental Meditation (TM) is an evidence-based approach to improve your well-being. TM is a simple, natural, effortless technique practiced 20 minutes twice each day while sitting comfortably with the eyes closed. Through TM, you can reduce stress and anxiety, decrease the impacts of depression and trauma, improve sleep, and improve intelligence, creativity and your learning ability.

We invite you to apply to be part of the second cohort of TM participants! This 8-week program, starting the week of 9/20, is structured to help you gain the benefits of TM (mentioned above), while learning skills and connecting with other students.

To participate in the cohort, you must commit to the entire program to gain the benefits of the TM practice. If this schedule does not work for you on this round, there are other JHU meditation and mindfulness offerings and TM may be offered again in the future.


Overview of the Schedule

Week 1 (9/20-9/24) is the most significant time commitment, but definitely worth it. All participants will schedule an individual in-person session at the TM Center of Baltimore at your convenience and observing COVID-19 health and safety practices. You will be completing the course through an app when it works for your schedule. 
  • Cohort A: Monday-Thursday
    • Monday: Individual training session (90 min) at the Baltimore TM Center, scheduled at your convenience between 9AM and 6PM
    • Tuesday-Thursday
      • Twice daily meditation on your own
      • Listen to interactive app lesson (approximately 90 minutes each day)
      • Zoom connections with TM instructors at 3 PM or 7:30 PM (approximately 30 minutes each day)
  • Cohort B: Tuesday-Friday
    • Tuesday: Individual training session (90 min) at the Baltimore TM Center, scheduled at your convenience between 9AM and 6PM
    • Wednesday-Friday
      • Twice daily meditation on your own
      • Listen to interactive app lesson (approximately 90 minutes each day)
      • Zoom connections with TM instructors at 2 PM or 8:15 PM/5PM on Friday (approximately 30 minutes each day)

Weeks 2-8 include 1 group check-in per week and your twice daily meditations with some additional options for in-person group meditations and special guest speakers.
