Canons Away!
Saturday, Jan 28, 2023

Join the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra and the Arthur Friedheim Library at the Peabody Institute on Saturday January, 28th for Canons Away: a Wikipedia edit-a-thon that will help expand the canon in orchestral music. Our editing focus will be historically underrepresented composers and performers across history.

Event organizers and other Wikipedia pros will provide training and technical help if you're a first-time editor throughout the event.

Registration is free and includes snacks throughout the day, swag, and the knowledge that YOU are changing how the world learns about the classical canon!

HOW IT WORKS?
- Show up anytime between the 10am-4pm time slot and stay for as long as you want. While you can show up without registering, we encourage interested folks to RSVP so we can plan for the right amount of materials. We encourage participants to bring their own laptop, but there will also be limited desktop computers available for use.

- When you check in, you will be provided with a worksheet that includes instructions on how to edit a Wikipedia article. Library staff will be able to provide assistance if you have any questions.

- You can either choose your own composer or performer to focus on, or choose from a list of suggestions that the organizers will provide.

-The worksheet will also provide a list of resources and references to help you find the appropriate information for your topics.
Throughout the day coffee, snacks, breakfast, and lunch will be provided. Not only that, there will be FREE T-SHIRTS available on a first-come first-serve basis!
