The Latin America Studies Initiative invites students, faculty, alumni, and members of the broader SAIS community to a timely discussion with Professor Marian Vidaurri DIA '23 on her new book Venezuelan Negotiations: From Deadlock to Collapse (2014–2024).
Drawing on a decade of failed diplomatic efforts, Professor Vidaurri will examine why negotiations repeatedly broke down and what these lessons reveal about intractable conflicts. A second panel of regional experts will explore where Venezuela stands today and what trajectories may lie ahead.
The program will conclude with audience Q&A, followed by a reception and book signing.
