Welcome back Blue Jays! We hope that you had a restful winter break and are ready for a new semester.  Student Leadership and Involvement is excited to have so many of you back in Baltimore for the spring semester!

As we kick off the new year, SLI wants you to know about the many opportunities to make memories, new friends, and truly engage with the campus community.

First, the Spring Student Involvement Fair is Thursday, February 4, 8:00 - 9:30pm ET and Friday, February 5, 4:00 - 7:00pm ET.  Be sure to register below!

Next, One of the biggest event of the Spring, Lighting of the Quads, will be this Saturday, January 30, 7:00 - 8:30pm.  You won't want to miss it, so be sure to register here.

And lastly, for now, be sure to check out all of the upcoming events on Hopkins Groups.

Spring 2021 Student Involvement Fair
RSOs can now begin building their booths for the Spring 2021 Virtual Student Involvement Fair.  There is no sign up, and your group will only need to login to Hopkins group and the Fair to set everything up.  Hopkins Groups will also allow you to duplicate your booth from the last Fair, so there's no need to re-create things.

New Group Registration
SLI will not be registering any new student organizations during the spring 2021 semester.  At the end of the spring semester, we will reevaluate when SLI can begin to register new student organizations for the next academic year.

Re-Registration
The registered student organization, re-regsitration process is finally coming to a close. Be sure to double check your workflow step, to determine if. youo are in pending status.  Groups whose workflow is at the Advisor step, should reach out directly to their advisor to request that they approve their step in the workflow.  For questions related to re-registration, contact SLI at studentorgs@jhu.edu.

The Life Design Lab is eager to support you in pursuing your life's purpose and career interests. I am excited to provide programming and office hours conversations to help you consider how your involvement at Hopkins has and will continue to impact you moving forward. Stay tuned for more specific information about spring office hours and other programming in the next newsletter.

Looking for a guest speaker for your student organization meetings?

Email me at hburke4@jhu.edu to schedule a life design and/or career preparation workshop for your student organization this semester. Previous presentations include introduction to design thinking principles, telling your involvement story, networking, searching for an internship or job, resume and cover letter 101, and more! Feel free to also suggest something new. I am happy to accommodate your group's interests and schedules.
 

Finding the Right Fit: Preparing for Spring Involvement Fair

It's not too late to join student organizations and find your "just right" fit at Hopkins. Join me on Monday, February 1 from 12-1pm EST or Tuesday, February 2 from 7-8pm EST to explicitly name what you hope to get out of co-curricular involvement this semester, hear from current students about how they approached involvement, and make a game plan for which organizations you'll connect with at the Spring Involvement Fair on Thursday, February 4 and Friday, February 5. This past year has been an unprecedented time for all of us. Our thoughts are with the students, staff, and faculty at our campuses they continue to navigate this pandemic. 

For those of you returning to campus or Baltimore this spring, we are so excited to have you back! We want to let you know that the Collegetown Shuttle is operating this spring, helping you connect to other campuses, transit hubs, and stores to satisfy your essential needs. Service for Spring 2021 starts on Monday, January 25.

This amazing campus tradition looks just a bit different this year but still packed with the amazing excitement of pictures, music, student performances, speakers, Jay the Blue Jay highlights and of course lighting up campus as we get spring underway!
