As part of National Crime Prevention Month, Student Affairs and Public Safety will present its third annual Secure Your Nest: Blue Jay Safety Month, an opportunity for new students who may be living away from home for the first time to receive resources and guidance to keep themselves and others safe. Safety Month is also a great opportunity for returning students to brush up on their situational awareness and learn tips for staying safe when living off-campus. Secure Your Nest - Blue Jay Safety Month runs from October 1st through October 31st.

Secure Your Nest Night with Hopkins Dining

Come meet and have dinner with the patrol officers and Public Safety Staff members who work to keep you safe. Officers will be on hand to meet with students and share tips and information. With Give-a-ways and more. Student Affairs will pay for 30 students (15 for Hopkins Cafe and 15 for Nolan's) who are not on a meal plan to join in on the fun. Non-meal plan participants must register in advance.

Staff and Student Personal Safety Self-Defense Class

Learn some basic self-defense techniques in our personal safety class. All students, staff, or faculty are welcome to sign-up to gain skills in awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance. This class will be facilitated by our Community Liaison, Jon Walter, who will share some information on awareness and defense techniques.
