Option Clark Scholars Pre-Orientation This Pre-Orientation program is a mandatory program for all incoming Clark Scholars. Over the course of 3.5 days, students will engage with the program elements: leadership, service, and business/entrepreneurship. During this cohort experience, Clark Scholars will connect with other Clark Scholars through team-building experiences, learn about academic resources on campus, and explore the Baltimore and broader Maryland community. Option Recreational Backpacking Join the Experiential Education Program at the Recreation Center for an outdoor adventure with a backpacking expedition to the Appalachian Trail. Experience the tranquility of the trail, forge long-lasting friendships with your fellow adventurers, while being led by our skilled outdoor gurus who are the heart and soul of the JHU outdoor community! Option SPARK-ON (In-Person Experience) The SPARK-On In-Person Experience is a 3.5-day pre-orientation for students who complete the SPARK Online course. Build community with peers and mentors, explore campus, and take a day trip to Washington, DC connecting mathematics with real-world issues. SPARK is for students enrolling in Pre-Calc or Calc I ONLY. Invitations will be sent by June 20. Details

Pre-Orientation programs give new students the opportunity to connect with a small group of peers around a shared area of interest.

Capacity for each program is limited, so registration is first-come, first-serve and requires two steps:

STEP 1: Registration. Students will fill out a registration form to secure a spot in their desired Pre-Orientation program. A waitlist will be activated once program capacities have been reached.
STEP 2: Payment and Confirmation. Following a review process of all registration forms, students’ registration in a Pre-Orientation program is confirmed in late June 2026. Those confirmed will be prompted to accept and pay for a spot in the Pre-Orientation program (if applicable).
