The inaugural Let’s Talk Conflict seminar focused on Sudan, featuring Dr. Salim Mohamednour (WHO, Sudan office), Dr. Ali Ardalan (WHO EMRO, Health Systems in Emergencies Lab). At our second session, Dr. Aman Alawad (INTERSOS) and Professor Dr. Huda BaSaleem (University of Aden) discussed the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and the health impacts of forced displacement. In our third session on April 24, Dr. Si Thura (Community Partners International) and Hnin Thet Hmu Khin (Frontline Ethics) will share their experiences working to meet community needs in Myanmar in the wake of ongoing crisis. Other upcoming sessions will focus on the conflicts, humanitarian impact, and response in Burkina Faso (May) and Afghanistan (May).
This seminar series is hosted by the Migration and Health Society in partnership with the Johns Hopkins Center for Humanitarian Health and several other Bloomberg School of Public Health student organizations, including the African Public Health Network (APHN), ASEAN Student Nexus (ASN), Asia Pacific Public Health Network (APPHN), and the Latino Public Health Network (LPHN). The events have been sponsored by the BSPH Student Assembly.
