Details

The BSA Milestones Dinner is an annual event geared towards recognizing the achievements of the graduate student, postdoctoral fellow, postbaccalaureate student, and faculty populations. Within the realm of academia, it is typical that we overlook our achievements in order to pursue the next goal. The BSA Milestones Dinner seeks to address this by recognizing the accomplishments of the Hopkins community. There is no achievement too small or large and can range from a first year finishing their first year of graduate school to the fifth- or sixth-year student publishing in a high impact journal. All these achievements deserve to be recognized and honored with our peers, so that as we look forward to the next accomplishment, we can appreciate the journey traveled. This allows us to foster community and build ourselves up as we continue our journey in graduate school and career.

A month prior to the BSA Milestones Dinner, we begin accepting nominations, which can be self-nominations, for the achievements of those in the Hopkins community. The nominees will then be informed of their nomination and will be honored at the BSA Milestones Dinner. On the day of the gala, each of the nominees will receive a certificate honoring their achievements on behalf of the Biomedical Scholars Association.

In addition to the nominations, we ask a Hopkins Alumnus to deliver a keynote talk during the dinner portion of the gala. This speech mainly covers the speaker’s journey from their time at Johns Hopkins to their current career, so as to continue to inspire the guests to continue their path and journey.
