The Dunbar Baldwin Hughes Theatre Company (DBH) has been established to produce cultural expressions of African descent including plays, musicals, skits, monologues, poetry recitals, and dance presentations. As a Black and multicultural organization on the Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus, we will create theatrical experiences that amplify the voices of marginalized groups, racial and otherwise. Through theatrical expression, we will celebrate the culture, traditions and experiences of BIPOC communities. The Dunbar Baldwin Hughes Theatre Company ultimately serves to broaden the theatrical experience of the Hopkins community at large.

The Eclectics is a co-ed student-run dance group that works with a wide variety of dance styles including hip-hop, contemporary, whaacking, heels, jazz, and lyrical. The general philosophy behind The Eclectics lies in its name: drawing from a myriad of dance styles, the group aims to explore new territory and create harmony among seemingly disparate dance forms.

The purpose of this organization is to learn and build a repertoire of skills in order to create any wearable item from scratch. Through exposure and practice, members help each other learn to create items of their choosing ÔÇô from picking materials to finishing touches. Each finished work serves as a fruit of our combined efforts, and a stepping stone for future, even greater works.
HoF aims to bring students from any and every discipline together, and show that anyone interested is more than capable of learning the skills necessary in creating their own wearables. The group provides a creative space for young minds to de-stress and explore a new possibility with their hands.

We provide ensemble experience to Homewood musicians (non-music majors). Our chamber music groups receive weekly coachings from a professional musician. The JHU Ballet Company is a student-run ballet company that enables members to train in the technique and artistry of classical ballet from a healthy perspective that prioritizes enjoyment and well-being. The company holds regular classes open to students of all skill levels. ¡Baila! seeks to unite its members familiarly in a manner in which, individually and collectively, they will contribute towards the fulfillment of the organization's mission: to create a family. ¡Baila! endeavors the advancement of the Latin Dance technique while serving as a source of personal growth in which, in conjunction with social dancing, each member will find an appropriate environment to develop themself fully. ¡Baila! ultimately pursues re-connection/new connection with the past through the art of typical folklore and modern Latin Dance.

KPM was founded in 2015, and we are the first and only, award-winning K-Pop cover dance group on the Johns Hopkins University campus. KPM seeks to promote an awareness of K-Pop and by doing so, foster artistic talent and expression.

Membership Benefits
KPM members meet on campus multiple times a week to learn and create choreographies to K-Pop and non K-Pop songs. We also film dance covers to post on our YouTube channel, guest perform at various events in the Baltimore area, compete in K-Pop festivals in Maryland, and host end-of-semester showcases to share the art of K-Pop with the Johns Hopkins and neighboring communities.

The official dance team of Johns Hopkins University, The Ladybirds Dance Team is a completely student-run and student-choreographed team. Focusing on a variety of dance styles including pom, lyrical/contemporary, and jazz, members come from diverse dance backgrounds and are encouraged to contribute their styles in choreography throughout the year, culminating in the annual Ladybirds Spring Showcase held in Shriver Hall. The team also performs at many football games in the fall, and basketball and lacrosse games in the spring as well as other performing arts events across campus.

Lan Yun Blue Orchids is a performing arts group for students to come together to learn and practice traditional Chinese dance. Dancers of all levels of experience are welcome!

One character for Lan (蘭) means orchid, while another Lan (藍) is the color blue. The character Yun (韻) means rhythm. Using the two meanings of Lan, we have our nickname, "Blue Orchids." Much like the orchid, a complex flower that is uniquely shaped, the Lan Yun Chinese Dance team seeks to promote the understanding of a rich and intricate culture through unique dance moves.
