About Us

Johns Hopkins University's ¡Baila! is a Latin Dance team that strives to provide an open space for diversity, facilitate acceptance of others through an open and welcoming environment, and provide a space for self-expression. Our mission is the promotion, expansion, and empowerment of Latin American culture and heritage through dance. ¡Baila! additionally seeks to unite its members, familiarly in a manner in which they can individually and collectively contribute towards the fulfillment of the organization's mission: to create a family. ¡Baila! endeavors the advancement of the Latin Dance technique while also serving as a source of personal growth in which, in conjunction with social dancing, each member will find an appropriate environment to develop themself fully. ¡Baila! ultimately pursues re-connection/new connection with the past through the art of typical folklore and modern Latin Dance.
