About Us
Hopkins Community Connection is a student organization designed to address essential needs of patients through universal social needs screening and navigation to community resources and benefit programs. Our organization partners with JHMI and operates Resource Desks at the Harriet Lane Pediatric Clinic, Bayview Comprehensive Care Practice, Bayview Children's Medical Practice (Spanish speaking advocates only) and the East Baltimore Medical Center to address the social determinants of health. Student advocates assist patients and families to access essential resources such as food, housing, heat and electricity in order to be healthy. Advocates then follow up with their clients on a weekly basis, to ensure they get the appropriate resources to address their needs. By learning about the health care system, addressing social needs, and making lasting bonds with Baltimore families, Hopkins Community Connection volunteers will become the nation's next great health care leaders.
