  • What Are The Current Positions? How Do I Apply?

    The leadership team will meet bi-weekly to discuss event planning and club priorities.

    AAP clubs are still transitioning to an elections-based recruitment method. All clubs are required to have a President and Vice President, which will be up for (re)election. Other positions, such as the Social Media Managers and Events Coordinators may also become election-based.

All Leadership Descriptions (Filled and Unfilled)

  • Social Media & Content Creator

    As Social Media and Content Creator, you will

    • Manage HopCommNet’s social media account(s), posting 1 to 2 times weekly.
    • Organize HopCommNet’s social media calendar and design posts, including post descriptions and visual assets, to promote our organization and its events.
    • Attend events as needed to capture photos, videos, and content for social media.
    • Assist with creation of visual assets for Newsletters and Events as needed
    • Identify external resources that provide valuable events, webinars, and opportunities relevant to communications.
    • Assist HopCommNet President and Faculty Advisor with other duties as assigned
    • Attend bi-weekly executive team meetings and monthly general meetings

  • Operations Coordinator

    As Operators Coordinator, you will

    • Analyze student feedback and participation data to inform strategic decisions.
    • Maintain HopCommNet’s official documents and website; Adapt documents to comply with AAP guidelines as needed
    • Manage organizational finances, including budgets for HopCommNet events and financial reports for the AAP Student Government Association (SGA)
    • Record meeting minutes for HopCommNet’s meetings and events as needed
    • Oversee general members who manage special projects for HopCommNet as needed
    • (Optional) Design team management and feedback structure to streamline team workflows and enhance executive leadership communications
    • Identify external resources that provide valuable events, webinars, and opportunities relevant to communications.
    • Assist HopCommNet President and Faculty Advisor with other duties as assigned
    • Fulfill other Student Government Association (SGA) requirements for Secretaries and Treasurers as appointed
    • Attend bi-weekly executive team meetings and monthly general meetings

  • Event Coordinators (In-Person & Virtual)

    As Events Coordinator, you will

    • Plan, coordinate, and lead 1 to 3 HopCommNet events per semester (Events usually run 1 to 3 hours plus set up and clean up)
    • Communicate with the necessary JHU offices to invite guest speakers and/or vendors and reserve event spaces
    • Fill out official application forms to gain approval for events 2+ weeks in advance
    • Design events’ activities based on your own and other HopCommNet members’ suggestions that serve HopCommNet’s mission to support students’ professional development and/or communication skills
    • Identify external resources that provide valuable events, webinars, and opportunities relevant to communications.
    • Assist HopCommNet President and Faculty Advisor with other duties as assigned
    • Attend bi-weekly executive team meetings and monthly general meetings

    The In-Person Event Coordinator position is DC-based. You must be able to attend events in the District of Columbia.

  • President

    As President, you will

    • Manage leadership recruitment; Onboard and provide guidance for other members and executive team
    • Organize and lead all executive team meetings (1 hour every 1 to 2 weeks) and general meetings (30 minutes to 1 hour each month)
    • Maintain HopCommNet’s official email channels as well as proactively communicate between all HopCommNet Executive Members, Faculty Advisor, and Student Government Association (SGA) Leadership
    • Oversee all organization and team operations; Establish short and long-term organizational goals
    • Approve event plans, financial reports, and major communications materials; Review newsletter drafts for clarity, accessibility, and visual flow
    • Update organizational bylaws as needed
    • Attend and provide updates at AAP Student Government Association (SGA) meetings to represent HopCommNet as the club’s leadership
    • Identify external resources that provide valuable events, webinars, and opportunities relevant to communications.
    • Fulfill other Student Government Association (SGA) requirements for club Presidents as appointed
    • Attend Student Government Association (SGA) trainings for club leadership (roughly 5 hour commitment over the course of a week)

  • Vice President

    As Vice President, you will

    • Create HopCommNet’s newsletters (1 to 2 newsletters a month), which may involve interviewing AAP students, faculty, and alumni; Coordinating with other team members to write events blurbs; writing short op-eds or articles that provide value to AAP students; and curating resources relevant to communications.
    • Identify external resources that provide valuable events, webinars, and opportunities relevant to communications.
    • Attend and provide updates at AAP Student Government Association (SGA) meetings to represent HopCommNet as the club’s leadership
    • Assist HopCommNet President and Faculty Advisor with other duties as assigned
    • Attend bi-weekly executive team meetings and monthly general meetings
    • Fulfill other Student Government Association (SGA) requirements for club Vice Presidents as appointed
    • Attend Student Government Association (SGA) trainings for club leadership (roughly 5 hour commitment over the course of a week)

  • Executive Member (at large)

    If you are interested in a position that has already been filled, reach out! Members can manage special projects or request to assist an executive member. Those who get involved in the executive board may be given priority when a position opens.
