Word on the Street - Student Newsletter 12.01.2020

Student Leadership and Involvement is excited to announce the date for the Spring 2021, Virtual Student Involvement Fair.  On Friday, February 5, 4:00 - 7:00pm ET, registered student organizations and students can recruit and engage on Hopkins Groups during our spring event.

All groups will have the ability to create a booth for the Fair, no sign up required.  Additional details with instructions and deadlines will be shared in early January.

The Spring Virtual Student Involvement Fair will be part of the annual Student Involvement Week and we can’t wait to let you know what else is in store. 

RSO Re-Registration Updates!

The RSO Re-Registration is nearing completion, but we still need your help.  Please be sure to check your Hopkins Groups (HG) chat messages by logging into HG, then clicking the chat icon in the top right corner.  Any updates required of your submission will be requested through the chat feature.

The person who submitted the form can also check the status of their group’s re-registration form by following the below directions.

1. Login to Hopkins Groups
2. Click “My Surveys/Forms” from the left menu bar
3. Locate the “Re-Registration 2020-2021” form
4. Reviewing the “Steps.”  Note: The line that is bold is the current step of your submission.

Summer Internship Opportunities

• Applications for the Center for Social Concern's Community Impact Internship Program are due December 28th! This program is a great opportunity for anyone interested in community based work and learning more about Baltimore. Apply here.
• The Life Design Lab is partnering with several employers in a new effort called the DEI Collective, an initiative launched at Johns Hopkins for students to get summer internships at companies who are committed to improving access to students from underrepresented communities. Positions will be posted on Handshake on 12/3. Deadline to apply is 12/29. Interviews will be held on 1/21/21 and 1/22/21.

2021 - 2022 RA Applications!

We hope everyone enjoyed the break last week, and are staying safe and well. Residential Life has begun recruitment for Resident Advisors (RA) for the 2021-2022 academic year, and we are asking for your help in spreading the word. The full RA job description, list of Info Sessions, and Application is available now through January 8, 2021 on our website, and we are looking for undergraduate students that are ready to help shape the on-campus experience for their peers. If you have any students that are connected to your office that may be interested, please forward along our website, office information, or feel free to connect them directly to anyone of our staff to talk more about the role. The Johns Hopkins University Archives has launched a project to preserve the stories of faculty, students, and staff in the University community about how the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent campus closure have impacted their lives. The project includes a questionnaire and an invitation to donate to the Archives material documenting your experience.
