Research has shown that being part of a diverse learning community helps us become more creative, entrepreneurial, empathetic, diligent, and even helps us become more engaged citizens. One of the major benefits of being a college student is having opportunities to meet and learn from people of different backgrounds, experience, and beliefs than yourself. In this session, Coach Daron K. Roberts will explore the tenets of empathy and identify the techniques that college students can employ to embrace new ideas, concepts, and beliefs. He will also leverage his eight years of teaching at the university level to equip students with research-based tools to combat impostor syndrome. Finally, with an understanding of how challenging the first year of college can be, Coach Roberts will stress the importance of authenticity and provide actionable strategies to maintain an authentic approach to the college experience and beyond.
Coach Daron K. Roberts is a two-time author, former NFL coach, and college professor. He serves as the Chief Dive Instructor of Deep End Ventures, a transformational leadership company. He holds degrees from the University of Texas, Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Law School. He and his wife chase five kids through the streets of Austin, Texas.
