The Science Policy and Diplomacy Group is proud to be participating in the McClintock Letters, a national initiative to encourage scientists, especially early career researchers, to write op-eds in local, hometown newspapers about why federal support for science is important, aiming for publication on or around June 16th (Barbara McClintock's birthday). We highly encourage graduate students, postdocs, and early career scientists to consider writing about their personal experience with science and why federal support is important to them.

The Science Policy and Diplomacy Group will be holding a writing and editing session on June 29th in collaboration with the JHU Writing Center to provide space to workshop your ideas so they can be submitted to local papers by the June deadline. Whether you have a full draft of your piece or nothing written at all, this event will help guide your op-ed to publication in a local newspaper so that it can effectively communicate the importance of science to a public audience. Please consider attending this event, joining this nationwide initiative, and getting your writing published!
