Samir Kaul is a Founding Partner and Managing Director at Khosla Ventures, where he invests in transformative companies across AI, health, sustainability, and advanced technology. He began his career as a scientist, earning a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Michigan and an M.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland, before leading the Arabidopsis Genome Initiative at Craig Venter’s Institute for Genomic Research, which culminated in a landmark Nature publication. After completing his MBA at Harvard Business School, Samir joined Flagship Ventures, where he co-founded and invested in early-stage biotech companies including Helicos BioSciences, Codon Devices (where he served as founding CEO), and LS9. Since co-founding Khosla Ventures in 2006, he has played a key role in funding and scaling companies such as Guardant Health, Nutanix, QuantumScape, Impossible Foods, and Ultima Genomics. We are thrilled to be hosting a fireside chat with Samir, where he will share his journey from scientist to venture capitalist, discuss the evolving landscape of AI, health tech, and sustainability, and offer insights into building and supporting world-changing startups.
