The Sigma Sigma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is proud to announce the Adekunle Fagbenle Oratorical Competition.

This oratorical competition serves as a memorial to the life and work of Mr. Adekunle Fagbenle, Esq. A late Brother of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and Spring 1991 initiate of the Pi Theta Chapter seated at Coppin State University. The Chapter seeks to honor him as a man, a Brother, and a professional through this leadership development initiative that invests into the character building and involvement of underrepresented male students at Hopkins.

An oratorical competition allows applicants to demonstrate their public speaking skills and receive recognition for their achievements. Speeches will be assessed according to a rubric and delivered in front of a panel of judges. All speeches will be written by the applicants before the day of the contest in response to a given prompt that will generally revolve around on leadership, community advocacy, and the importance of civic action. A $1,000 prize will be awarded to the participant with the best speech, provided by the Brothers of the Sigma SIgma Chapter.
