About Us

Johns Hopkins University's ¡Baila! is a group that strives to provide an open space for diversity that can facilitate acceptance of others by promoting an open and welcoming environment, as well as providing a space for self-expression. Our mission is the promotion, expansion, and empowerment of the Latin American culture and heritage through Dance. ¡Baila! seeks to unite its members familiarly in a manner in which, individually and collectively, they will contribute towards the fulfillment of the organization's mission: to create a family. ¡Baila! endeavors the advancement of the Latin Dance technique while serving as a source of personal growth in which, in conjunction with social dancing, each member will find an appropriate environment to develop themself fully. ¡Baila! ultimately pursues re-connection/new connection with the past through the art of typical folklore and modern Latin Dance.
