Commnections: Internal Communications as a Behavior Function and LinkedIn for Strategic Growth

COMMNECTIONS: SPEAKER SERIES BY AAP MA IN COMMUNICATION

Watch the COMMnections recording on “Internal Communications as a Behavior Function and LinkedIn for Strategic Growth” featuring Kateryna Byelova!

Byelova is the CEO & Principal Consultant of Sage XP— a consultancy specializing in internal communications and corporate culture.

In the webinar, she discussed how internal communications can be used to shape employee behavior and improve business performance.

  • Byelova shared insights from her original research in the Gulf region and her proprietary Sage Maturity Model.

  • She also discussed LinkedIn as a strategic tool for professional influence, and how application of communication principles, with clarity, consistency, and purpose, grew her audience from zero to 10,000+.

Byelova, who earned her MA in Communication from Hopkins, has built Internal Communications and Culture functions from scratch for global organizations undergoing major transformation, including companies with up to 350,000 employees.

MULTICULTURAL WORKSHOP & CELEBRATION RECAP

Our Multicultural Event brought together a full room of graduate students at the Hopkins Bloomberg Center.

Dr. Julian Teixeira kicked off the night by re-framing multiculturalism in the U.S. by challenging the outdated "melting pot" metaphor and exploring how we each hold multiple cultural identities.

After our cultural reflection, the room got fired up during our cultural trivia game. Attendees discovered that Duffy and Friends reign supreme at Hong Kong Disneyland, and everyone unanimously agreed that the ๐Ÿ™‚ emoji in China often means "polite but passive-aggressive."

Students also shared their traditions during our new Cultural Social drawing activity. We heard about:

  • lucky coins hidden in dumplings,
  • sweet oil-and-sugar dumpling variations, and
  • the surprising fact that Argentina has more cows than people!

We hope everyone left with new connections, a broader view of their own cultural identity, and maybe a new favorite snack.

Thank you to everyone who joined us!
