Hopkins Groups Updates
Hi There Hopkins Groups Users,

As part of our data integration changes with Campus Groups, the fields below will soon become read-only.

• First Name
• Last Name
• Email Address

If you prefer to use your preferred name as your “first name”, please follow the steps below before this change goes into effect:

1. Go to https://my.jh.edu/myJH/index.cfm?event=page.getMyProfile
2. Update your Preferred First Name
3. Hit “Save myProfile” button at the bottom

Unfortunately, as of now there are no plans to provide an option to edit those fields in the near future. We will notify your shortly with the date in which the changes will be made. The deadline to make any changes is December 18, 2020.

Student Involvement Fair - MAJOR UPDATES!

A few weeks ago, Student Leadership and Involvement, announced the date for the Spring 2021, Virtual Student Involvement Fair.  We have expanded the dates and times once again to ensure that as many students as possible can participate.

Spring Student Involvement Fair will be Thursday, February 4, 8:00 - 9:30pm ET AND Friday, February 5, 4:00 - 7:00pm ET.  RSOs and students can recruit and engage on Hopkins Groups during our spring event to enhance their campus involvement.

All groups will have the ability to create a booth for the Fair, no sign up required.  Additional details with instructions and deadlines will be shared in early January.

The Spring Virtual Student Involvement Fair will be part of the annual Student Involvement Week and we can’t wait to let you know what else is in store.

You're Invited to Apply to the DEI Collective!

We want to invite you to join the very first DEI Collective Summer Internship Hiring Event! This is an opportunity to engage with, and interview for internships within, companies that promote opportunity access to underrepresented communities.

Check out all the available summer internships here and submit your application for the positions you're interested in. You have until 12/29 to apply!

More information on the DEI Collective

What is the DEI Collective? 

It's an initiative launched at Johns Hopkins University to match our students with companies who are currently looking for summer interns and committed to improving access to students from underrepresented communities. 

How can I find out more information and get prepared to apply?

• Check out all of the DEI Collective roles here.
• Drop into the Life Design Lab office hours next week with questions.
• Review Life Design Lab resume resources.

Some things we’d love for you to keep in mind: 

• Tailor your resume to each individual position you are applying to. Companies will be looking at your resumes and selecting your resume based on how well it aligns to their job description.  
• Write a brief (one paragraph) Personal Statement that explains your interest in the DEI Collective and/or how your experiences reflect commitment to diversity through one or more of the following attributes: first generation status, limited income, racial minority, LGBTQ+, international/national origin or disability/differently abled. Please submit this to the job posting in addition to your resume – can be attached as an additional document and you can reuse it for each company and job applying for. Please include your name, phone number, and email on the personal statement. 
• The deadline to apply for internship positions is 11:55pm EST on December 29th.  
• Please put the BEST email and phone number to be reached during the winter break on your resume. We will be sending interview notifications during the break to those emails.

 By submitting your resume, you agree: 

• To let us share your resume outside the bounds of this event with companies who are hiring talent from JHU.  
• To be available for one or multiple 1-hour interviews between 11 am - 5pm EST on Thursday, Jan 21 and Friday, Jan 22. (We will send interview notifications out around January 13th.)

Share Your COVID-19 Stories

The Johns Hopkins University Archives has launched a project to preserve the stories of faculty, students, and staff in the University community about how the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent campus closure have impacted their lives. The project includes a questionnaire and an invitation to donate to the Archives material documenting your experience.
