4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
REQUIRED SESSION. Research has shown that being part of a diverse learning community helps us become more creative, entrepreneurial, empathetic, diligent, and even helps us become more engaged citizens. One of the major benefits of being a college student is having opportunities to meet and learn from people of different backgrounds, experience, and beliefs than yourself. In this session, Parag Mehta will discuss how the future depends on a strong foundation in learning from a diverse community and how your college experience can help you get there. How do you develop the skills needed to thrive in a diverse learning community? What is the role of a college education in creating a flourishing democracy? And how do we solve the seemingly intractable problem of inequality, which keeps too many people from realizing their full potential?
Parag Mehta serves as President of the JPMorgan Chase PolicyCenter. He leads a team of experts who leverage data insights and expertise from the country's largest bank to advocate for policies that are in the best interest of the communities where JPMC does business. For more than two decades, Parag has worked – on political campaigns, in government and now, in the private sector – to enact strategies that make our democracy stronger and our economy more just. Join us for a conversation with Parag about his journey, what he's learned about the role of policy in shaping our collective future, and the personal battle he and his husband are waging to bring marriage equality to the world's largest democracy.
