Agara Bio fosters collaborative, hands-on learning in biology, synthetic biology, and biotechnology by engaging students in casual, skills-based workshops and community projects. We run a community biology lab, open to all Hopkins undergraduates, on the Homewood campus.

Mission
The American Mock World Health Organization chapter at Johns Hopkins University leads annual simulation conferences where delegates are invited to assume the roles of global leaders in addressing today’s most pertinent global health issues. We provide opportunities for students to develop leadership abilities, sharpen public speaking skills, understand real-world policy applications through the lens of their respective roles. The chapter also recruits for and attends the National AMWHO conference as a delegation.

AMWHO is modeled after the Ontario and Montreal World Health Organization conferences set in Canada, and the primary focus of all three is to raise student awareness of pertinent health issues facing the world today, as well as to promote understanding of the many roles students can engage in through global health policy. The conference hopes to establish an environment similar to that of the World Health Organization’s Assembly, and educate future global health leaders in the proceedings of international health entities. Furthermore, AMWHO aims to nurture an interest in global health and health policy that is often neglected in a standard health education curriculum. Students will receive the opportunity to sharpen their diplomacy skills, as well as increase their ability to engage in problem solving, conflict resolution, and communication skills.

Beyond Health @ JHU is an undergraduate-led symposium exploring historical frameworks of health activism, advocacy, and community-based organizing in medicine and community wellbeing. We hope to develop a speaker series and an annual conference that brings together professors, Baltimore organizers and health experts, and keynote speakers to provide students, and the community, an opportunity to explore the social determinants of health in Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities.

The purpose of Chess Club is to promote the game of chess on the
Johns Hopkins University campus by providing a fun, friendly environment for students, faculty,
and staff to learn and play chess. As one of the oldest games, chess has cultivated a large
following which has grown in recent years. While people can play online, an in-person
environment allows for people to socialize, cultivate a healthy chess culture, and improve at the
game with the support of peers.

The purpose of Johns Hopkins University Archaeology and Ancient Civilizations Club (AACC) is to provide supplemental learning opportunities for both concentrators and students interested in archaeology and ancient history. In addition the club will seek to facilitate interdepartmental collaboration between Archaeology, Classics, Near Eastern Studies, and other related departments. The club aims to build community among concentrators (undergraduate and graduate), interested students, and faculty. The club will also provide a framework for students from each department to address their specific academic needs and desires.

The club will host the screening of films and television programs relevant to the ancient world, explore perceptions of how history is represented in popular media, host guest lecturers, and support lecture series on campus affiliated with each department. Relevant outside literature will be provided at club meetings as supplemental learning for those interested. Students from diverse but related backgrounds will bring their knowledge to an informal and fun exploration of selected issues.

AACC will also provide an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate club members who have spent time abroad or who have participated in an excavation to present their experiences to the student body and faculty. This will increase awareness of the opportunities for students from all backgrounds to go abroad and/or participate in field work.

The Archaeology and Ancient Civilizations Club’s primary goals are to provide a fun and open learning environment on campus and collaborate with faculty and administrators to guide interested club members toward finding study-abroad programs, internship, field work opportunities, and scholarships.

HopMUN is JHU’s competitive, traveling Model United Nations team. HopMUN is committed to
educating Hopkins undergraduates in the realms of public policy and coalition-building, while
promoting critical real-world skills such as public speech and writing. To accomplish these ends, the
team trains for and travels to five simulated Model United Nations conferences across North
America per year, where our members seek to promote comprehensive solutions to some of the
most pressing issues from both the modern day and across history. Additionally, the club hosts
numerous training conferences, simulations, and fundraisers throughout the year.

Quizbowl is a team competition testing knowledge on all academic topics, ranging anywhere from
particle physics to 20th century English literature to Japanese mythology. Our club is extremely
active, competing in and hosting over 15 tournaments a season.
We have a diverse mix of over 30 active members composed of both undergraduate and graduate
students from all fields of study and all skill levels. We offer many competitive opportunities for new
players, including hosting a college novice tournament early in the fall and an undergraduate-only
tournament in the spring. In addition, we host many high school and college tournaments yearround that allow our members to interact with the local circuit and are a great opportunity to gain
organizational experience

community around Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. video game franchise. Smash is a multiplayer fighting game series, unique in both its gameplay as well as its community which has maintained an active following with a strong competitive aspect for the many years since the first game was released. From small college scenes to the international scale, the Smash community is dedicated to fostering a healthy competitive gaming environment, and welcomes players without regard to race, age, sex, sexuality, disability, or experience. Our group intends to help develop such a community by giving students a chance to come together to play Smash, whether for fun or for competition.

Wing Chun at Johns Hopkins University (also known as Wing Chun @ JHU, hereinafter referred to as WC@JHU) is a Johns Hopkins University student organization that is dedicated to the teaching of members of the JHU community self-defense through the Wing Chun Kung Fu (hereinafter referred to as Wing Chun) system. To this end, WC@JHU will hold several weekly practices on and off campus taught by the instructors.
WC@JHU will also be secondarily dedicated to spreading awareness and interest for kung fu as a whole. To this end, the club will hold outreach events promoting kung fu and martial arts.
