Mission
Charm City Science League (CCSL) empowers Baltimore middle and high school students to pursue STEM education beyond lessons taught in the classroom. We engage students in active learning and scientific inquiry through Science Olympiad, a national STEM competition for grades 5-12. Using a unique combination of intensive one-on-one mentoring, academic competition participation, resource support, and greater community involvement, we inspire young students to explore their passions in science and support their academic growth.

Membership Benefits
As one of the largest student organizations within the Center for Social Concern (over 100 members!), Charm City Science League offers a whole host of opportunities to help serve our network of 20+ Baltimore City Schools. We primarily send groups of ~4 mentors to each of our schools in weekly sessions in both the fall and spring semesters, where mentors help the school's Science Olympiad teams prepare for the Regionals and States competitions in March. Additionally, members help put together kits, write online curriculum, volunteer at workshops throughout the year, and run Johns Hopkins very own Science Olympiad Invitational. Those who want to get even more involved can become head mentors, or join our Executive Board.

Mission
Hopkins Community Connection collaborates with communities to challenge systemic barriers to health equity by training a diverse workforce of individuals who champion a more just system through an innovative and patient-centered approach to addressing social determinants of health in the healthcare setting.

Membership Benefits
Hopkins Community Connection is a student organization designed to address essential needs of patients through universal social needs screenings and navigation to community resources and benefit programs. Our organization partners with JHMI and staffs Family Resource Desks at the Harriet Lane Clinic, Comprehensive Care Practice, Bayview Children's Medical Practice, Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center, and the East Baltimore Medical Center to address the social determinants of health. Student advocates assist Baltimore families to access essential resources such as food, housing, heat and electricity in order to be healthy. Volunteer advocates then follow up with their clients, on a weekly basis, to ensure they get the appropriate resources to address their needs. By learning about the health care system, addressing psychosocial needs, and making lasting bonds with Baltimore families, HCC volunteers will become the nation's next great health care leaders.
