How to take Child Safety Training on MyLearning
my.jhu.edu (JHU Portal) -> MyLearning -> search up 'Training on the Safety of Children in University Programs' in 'Catalog Search' -> click 'Add to Plan' -> Take Course
Save the certificate PDF, as you will need to submit it in Step 5. If you have already taken this course before, you don't have to!
Go to the link below to The Y in Central Maryland's Volunteer Project Page. Then, click on the blue button for 'Hop Help Volunteer': https://ymaryland.volunteermatters.org/project-catalog/436
If you already have an account, feel free to 'Login'. Many of you will have to create an account for the first time. To do so, click on the 'Register Now' button and create your account. Once you are logged in or registered, you will then be able to hit 'Sign Up' and 'Apply Now' for Hop Help.
Complete all requirements as stated by The Y's Volunteer Page. Without filling these out and completing the trainings, you cannot volunteer.
The requirements are: 1. Complete online Volunteer Agreement / 2. Read and Review Y's Child Abuse Prevention Policy / 3. Complete Child Abuse Prevention Training / 4. Fill out form for State of Maryland Background Check and complete an in-person volunteer fingerprint (instructions in Step 5).

You will be getting an email from the Center for Social Concern on next steps.
Please print and bring the following fingerprinting form (and any other form required) if using an outside fingerprinting vendor:

Once you have completed your training, it will take some time for the background check to process. You can check the status at: https://ymaryland.volunteermatters.org/volunteer/my-profile and then scroll to the bottom-right corner of the page. If it looks like the photo below, you are good to volunteer. Please screenshot your 'My Credentials' page and email it to hophelps@gmail.com.
