Outdoors Climbing

Come climbing outdoors with the Johns Hopkins Experiential Education instructors on some really cool rocks not far away from campus! Most of our trips consist of ‘top rope’ climbing, using ropes to allow everyone to try out different climbs and safely enjoy some spectacular views from the top. No climbing experience is necessary but climbers of all levels are encouraged to come, since we select locations and climbs based on everyone’s comfort and skill levels.

On the day of the trip, we meet early in the morning and get all the necessary gear (which will be provided). Most locations are an hour away which allows us to climb till late afternoon. We always make sure to find a good spot to take a break and enjoy lunch (which always tastes so much better than normal!). We usually get back by 5pm.

Check out this link for information about registration, paperwork, and what to bring on a trip!
https://studentaffairs.jhu.edu/recreation/experiential-education/trips/climbing/

IMPORTANT: Registering for this trip is committing. We understand that things come up so if you can’t make it anymore give at least one week’s notice. If you cancel later or do not show up to a trip it might affect your ability to go on other outdoor trips.

A Doll's House at Everyman Theatre : HopArt Event

Attend a performance through the HopArt program, free of cost, thanks to the Parent's Fund. RSVP to be entered into the ticket lottery. Participants will be confirmed 5-7 days before each event. Students will attend with faculty or staff chaperones, enjoy a meal out, and transportation is provided to and from JHU. Available to undergraduates only.

Offering a fresh perspective on Ibsen’s timeless classic, Schultz’s adaptation of A Doll’s House invites audiences to engage with updated themes of gender, power, and identity while holding true to the playwright’s original intentions. The play follows the story of Nora, a young wife and mother, who appears to have a perfect life with her husband Torvald. However, Nora has been keeping a secret from her husband that threatens to unravel her entire world. When we lose ourselves to the expectations of the roles we fulfill, how long before we must slam the door to find ourselves again?

Departure for this program will be at 1pm for Everyman Theater, 2pm performance, with optional dinner after the concert. Registration to enter the lottery ends Sept. 1 at noon.

Hiking

Join our outdoors instructors on a local day hike. No hiking experience is necessary— chosen hiking trails are not strenuous or technical and the group will hike at the pace that is most comfortable for all participants. Hikes typically pause halfway at a scenic vista where participants can have lunch and take in the views before concluding the hike. Past trips have visited trails such as Annapolis Rock and Liberty Reservoir. We usually get back by 3pm.

Check out this link for information about registration, paperwork, and what to bring on a trip!
https://studentaffairs.jhu.edu/recreation/experiential-education/trips/backpacking-hiking/

IMPORTANT: Registering for this trip is committing. We understand that things come up so if you can’t make it anymore give at least one week’s notice. If you cancel later or do not show up to a trip it might affect your ability to go on other outdoors trips.
