Heritage 365 Speaker Series- featuring TChin, the Storyteller & Flute Player sponsored by Indigenous Heritage Celebration, Indigenous Students at Hopkins, Center for American Indian Health, and Center for Student Success- FLI Network.
Tchin is a nationally known artist and educator of Indigenous arts and culture. Through oral tradition, he tells stories portraying the creation of the world and how things came to be. In his energizing presentation, Tchin addresses important topics including cultural diversity, music appreciation, and environmental consciousness. These stories have been passed down through generations and illuminate both young and mature minds. Tchin brings the stories alive with his gift of magic. As part of this program, Tchin will perform and explain the seldom seen or heard Native American courting flute.
Indigenous Heritage Celebration is a campus-wide initiative to highlight and celebrate the various Indigenous Heritage cultures on campus, history and their contributions to the world. Events are sponsored by student organizations, faculty members, and a number of offices within the university. Heritage 365 is an ongoing initiative that observes the cultural heritage and history beyond the month and recognizes such heritage month from a year-long format. It encourages partners across campus as well as students think broader in terms of heritage celebration. We continued to recognize and honor each heritage celebration month

Duy Pham
Policy Analyst @Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP)
Policy expertise: Adult and Postsecondary Education, Career Pathways, Federal Postsecondary Policy, State Aid and Other Financial Supports, Workforce Development, Racial Equity, Criminal Justice, Immigrant Children and Families Duy Pham is a policy analyst focused on CLASP's justice portfolio and sits on the youth team. He works across the organization to drive CLASP's strategy around intersectional economic justice and criminal justice reform. His core areas of work include a focus on racial equity, adult and postsecondary education, workforce development, and reentry and reintegration pathways. Duy was previously a research assistant with CLASP's Postsecondary and Workforce Development team. Prior to joining CLASP, Duy was a public interest fellow at the Bell Policy Center in Denver, Colorado. He holds a bachelor's degree in international political economy from Colorado College and a master's degree in public policy from the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown

In honor of National First-Generation College Student Celebration, the I'M First and HopMC student organizations are teaming up for a night of fun and socializing. If you have a Minecraft account, log on to the server using the IP: play.HopMC.xyz on Saturday, November 7th at 6pm to play. If you do not own a Minecraft account, and would like to participate, please email us at hopkinsfli@jhu.edu. The meeting location will take place on zoom.

In honor of National First-Generation College Student Day, please join us for a networking mixer with faculty who are FLI graduates and FLI supporters. Faculty from Whiting and Krieger will be in attendance.
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
This session will help you learn how to overcome anxiety around networking, make and solidify connections, discuss the types of questions to ask, and give you a chance to practice with your peers in preparation for Day 2.
