About Us

At the Johns Hopkins University chapter of Tau Beta Pi, we have served students for almost one hundred years since the chapter's inception in 1921. Our chapter activities include promoting interest in STEM in the community through workshops at local schools, professional development and networking with alumni and companies, and more. We are the first Tau Beta Pi chapter in the state of Maryland and have proudly honored over 2,500 engineering students during our existence. Membership is a recognition of your academic scholarship and a challenge to foster a spirit of engineering excellence and community service wherever you go.

Members Benefits

Tau Beta Pi is the most prestigious nationally recognized engineering honor society. Membership is reserved for only the most dedicated and motivated engineering students. At Johns Hopkins, only the top eighth of juniors and the top fifth of seniors are eligible for induction.

This distinction is widely recognized by medical and graduate schools, as well as employers, as a mark of academic excellence and integrity. TBP is a great avenue for networking and learning from esteemed engineers, as well as for accessing scholarships and professional opportunities. A few notable members include 19 Nobel laureates, Buzz Aldrin, Jeff Bezos, and Michael Bloomberg!
