We deal specifically with issues related to disabilities, including providing support and advocacy for all students who are affected by a disability. Our mission is to provide an approachable, cohesive, and inclusive group that supports students with disabilities by reducing stigma, providing education and awareness, and promoting a more positive image of disability at Johns Hopkins University. We also do outreach in the Baltimore community, bringing awareness and service to others dealing with disability.

Mission
The AstroJays Rocketry Team is a multidisciplinary, student-led team that builds advanced rocket systems with the goal of increasing the number of aerospace engineering opportunities on the Homewood campus.

The AstroJays are composed of 4 subsystems: Avionics, Propulsion, Recovery, and Structures, each of which focus on one aspect of our rockets.

-- Avionics gathers data from a variety of sensors placed within the rocket and on the propulsion system, using its data to determine its flight path, and sending diagnostics back to a ground station.
--Propulsion develops and implements commercial and custom propulsion systems. Currently developing a hybrid rocket motor.
--Recovery focuses on bringing the rocket back safely -from detecting apogee, to separation, parachute deployment, and ultimately ground recovery of the rocket.
--Structures ensures that the rocket is its lightest, while staying aerodynamic and retaining its structural integrity throughout the entire flight (externally and internally).

Working together as a team, these subsystems develop advanced rocket systems. Our team of more than 30 students are all hard at work to make each launch count.

Our mission is to bring out divergent, creative, and dynamic perspectives by fostering respectful discussion to create an open-minded and diverse community. Discourse means to showcase the physical genesis that occurs from the culmination of constructive discussion.

Ultimately, our efforts serve to attempt to answer our core question: what does social action look like in the twenty-first century? Discourse exists to serve students in a rapidly developing world through the creation of an outlet to engage intellectually and creatively in a supportive, dynamic environment outside of the classroom where everything is graded.

We intend to engage members of the Johns Hopkins community by organizing workshops each semester revolving around a theme inspired by our core question. The theme will be engaged with in three ways: SPOKEN, VISUAL, and WRITTEN. At the end of the semester, a presentation of the cumulation of the semester’s work will be presented on our website.

We will work with other student groups, academic departments and organizations from Baltimore and beyond. In doing so, we seek to bring together different communities to participate in informative debates and to share their distinct experiences and expertise. Discourse events will not only be attended by members of our community, but rather will be defined by them.

We firmly believe that our workshops and final presentation will serve as a catalyst for the change we want to see on campus; a return to civic discourse, a cultivation of connections between diverse members of this University, and the genesis of new creative and intellectual endeavors by the student body.

Despite medicine’s impact in our lives and the world, there has been little attempt to help break the barriers between doctors and researchers and those who are affected by medicine on a daily basis. The Hippocrates Med Review is a medical journal that aims to humanize medicine to make it accessible to those who need the information the most: the patient.

Additionally, in recent years, the term “medicine” has been broadened to encompass more than just physical health; mental and economic health, through the lens of medicine, are increasingly important to a patient’s quality of life. By placing an emphasis on domestic health, global health, biotechnology, medical humanities, and clinical medicine, we hope to spread the idea of new medicine, which looks at medicine further than what happens in a physician’s room.

The Hippocrates Med Review aims to improve population health by tackling the information gap between patient and providers, train the next generation of caregivers to challenge their approach on the patient-provider relationship to make it more patient-centered, and empower the public to fight for their healthcare rights with increased health literacy.

The purpose of Johns Hopkins University Archaeology and Ancient Civilizations Club (AACC) is to provide supplemental learning opportunities for both concentrators and students interested in archaeology and ancient history. In addition the club will seek to facilitate interdepartmental collaboration between Archaeology, Classics, Near Eastern Studies, and other related departments. The club aims to build community among concentrators (undergraduate and graduate), interested students, and faculty. The club will also provide a framework for students from each department to address their specific academic needs and desires.

The club will host the screening of films and television programs relevant to the ancient world, explore perceptions of how history is represented in popular media, host guest lecturers, and support lecture series on campus affiliated with each department. Relevant outside literature will be provided at club meetings as supplemental learning for those interested. Students from diverse but related backgrounds will bring their knowledge to an informal and fun exploration of selected issues.

AACC will also provide an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate club members who have spent time abroad or who have participated in an excavation to present their experiences to the student body and faculty. This will increase awareness of the opportunities for students from all backgrounds to go abroad and/or participate in field work.

The Archaeology and Ancient Civilizations Club’s primary goals are to provide a fun and open learning environment on campus and collaborate with faculty and administrators to guide interested club members toward finding study-abroad programs, internship, field work opportunities, and scholarships.

The Johns Hopkins Undergraduate Law Review was founded in December 2017 by then Johns Hopkins sophomore Kiana Boroumand. Comprised of undergraduate students in all disciplines, our staff is dedicated to engaging young voices and providing accessible, informed, and thought-provoking legal analysis.
As members of the greater undergraduate community, we strive to reflect the diverse interests and viewpoints of individuals within the Hopkins community and beyond. We are committed to building dialogue, not only about the pressing and oft-covered issues of our time, but also the worthwhile topics that have escaped public scrutiny.
The Law Review has two main components: the online platform, on which we regularly publish articles, and the print journal, which comes out annually each spring. Our goal is to provide readers with a platform to discuss and debate a wide variety of matters concerning the law. In addition to our staff writers, we encourage all those who are interested to submit pieces to JHULR Online.
