LyftPass Program
The LyftPass Program is available for CSC-supported student organizations, CBL faculty, and authorized guests. It provides discounted or fully covered Lyft rides for approved trips within specific times and locations.
How LyftPass Works
1. Roles:
Administrators: Can distribute passes to riders. To take a ride themselves, admins must designate themselves as riders.
Riders: Use the passes to request eligible rides. Each ride counts individually; a round trip equals two rides.
2. Reload Schedule: Passes are reloaded at the beginning of each month during the semester.
3. Usage Limit: Each rider can receive up to X rides per month, discounted by $XX per ride (minimum $20).
4. Time Window: Rides are only valid during the designated hours on specified days.
5. Geographic Coverage: Rides are limited to/from Homewood campus (½ mile radius) and approved community partner sites.
6. Ride Types: Any Lyft car type is allowed (XL, economy, etc.). Notify CSC if you want to restrict certain vehicle types.
7. Cost Coverage: Your budget is charged only for the exact cost of the ride. Be aware of pricing fluctuations during peak hours.
Step-by-Step Guide for Users
1. Claim Your Pass
- Administrators receive Lyft Passes via email from the CSC LyftPass program.
- Use the Lyft app on your mobile device to claim the pass.
- Passes can be distributed to riders via their @jhu.edu email.
2. View Pass Details
Tap See Details in the Lyft app to review rules.
Key restrictions may include:
- Time windows
- Location limits
- Ride types
- Maximum value per ride or total credits
3. Request a Ride
- Ensure you are in your personal profile (not a separate business profile).
- Passes are applied automatically for eligible rides.
- The CSC recommends tipping 20% from personal funds.
